Same price in John Lewis. Except you get an extra year of warranty here I guess.

Yup - extra warranty is never a bad thing
I also hear great things about R.S customer service.

Yup - they really are brilliant.
The 65” is the same as the John Lewis deal. Very tempted, 55 oled or this, is it all about the inches.
Do people really expect JL to be around in 5 years?
Any thoughts on this vs the Samsung Q70? The Sammy is about £80 more for QLED and 2019 model, but this was potentially higher spec when released?

Pay on your credit card, they are jointly liable for any guarantee.
Great set, though poor motion handling in darker scenes

Yes? Or are you expecting every retailer to have gone under over next 5 years? HUKD will be here posting retail deals, and so will retailers selling.
Businesses need to evolve, and some may not which will lead to their death. Hope JL won't be one of them!
Might have to get this, my Sam q70 got delivered yesterday and had a smashed screen. Struggling to source another one. Has this been updated to dolby vision? Without mentioning lg oled (just a bit too much) anyone got any other recommendations?
Waiting for LG OLED C9 to drop a bit, but not sure I can spend that amount of money in situation we are in at the moment.
Want 55 smart TV, but not something at the very cheap end. Any good recommendations?

I ordered this off John Lewis before Richer sounds matched it. I've been doing a lot of research but for me this is better than a Q70 and is more comparable to the Q80. Q80 is tempting for the viewing angles but I missed a good deal on it last week. I think the sony is a better quality build. All personal preference and how you will use it of course.

Don't think twice about getting this TV, I got one in December from costco after taking a lg TV back to richersounds for a refund, the Sony was on offer at the time for the same price as richersounds are selling for now. It's a brilliant TV picture is fantastic and sound good too, just buy it

It's all about customer service....JL pretty much have that sewn up. If they can transfer that to on line, they're sorted....the high streets.....as we know them, are finished.
Good telly this. Had a 49inch XF90 briefly at black Friday 2018 for £899 from John Lewis, (replaced a very old Sharp TV and would have kept too but the one I received had a fault and I nearly just exchanged it but also had started to sway slightly spending that much on a TV thinking my eyes would possibly struggle to see the difference to a £400ish 49" so took refund option)
Then before I'd bought another TV a family members offer of their less than 2 year old 49" LG (they were replacing with bigger) for free prevented me buying a replacement. The LG is good enough for me, especially for free! (and I personally prefer LG webOS to the android tv OS on the Sony but depends on individual preference and either way the Sony was definitely a bit better picture, to be expected given respective prices and specs).
I looked at reviews of the Sony at the time and the consensus then was one of best non oled TVs around and the 49" in particular was generally considered the best 49" TV available, with oled not doing that size at the time. Not sure how stacks up against newer competition and more competition in the 55" league then the 49".
Would also recommend care if you thinking of buying in-store from JL or RS don't think you'd have same right to return if changed mind, better to buy online usually, although tbf most on here know all this already.
I'd say a brilliant buy at this price now esp with 5 or 6 yr warranty too!

Agreed JL warranty rocks. On pricing, they have a great guarantee and on most items match RicherSounds. And agree to an extent on the high street, although I am buying a TV at the moment (and I am closer to 20's than 60s) and am frustrated that I can't go in store and check things out. In theory, this is an electrical which I should be able to buy online but frankly, I want to see it. So there must be some space for high street/out of town retail...
Hi.

I hope you are all keeping safe and well.

Not sure who's purchased this and still subscribed, but does anyone know, if I play a file via the USB port that has TrueHD audio, can this audio be passed through to an AV receiver?

I'm pretty sure this is not possible via HDMI because I think you need eARC for that (and I think this TV does not have this) but what about optical?

I won't take delivery until Friday.
I am sure I read on another thread there is a richer sounds vip membership to get a discount..
Is this just cabin fever thinking or is it a thing.

This would be to replace a pretty standard Samsung 4k TV. That has back light issues and no warranty.
It would be for a bright living room with a wide viewing angle, just used as a TV no gaming.
And no need for the TV speakers.

I have about a £700 budget.. Is this a wise pick?
