Use Code PREP2020 to save 20%£100:Enjoy your viewing in the finest detail with the breathtaking image quality of Sony's XF90. It combines the exceptional clarity of 4K resolution with the brilliant brightness and colour of HDR to give an amazingly lifelike picture. Powered by Sony's X1 Extreme 4K HDR processor, depth of field is startling and pin-sharp, while its TRILUMINOS display is beautifully colour-rich and realistic. Sony's suite of smart features on the Android platform opens up a wealth of extraordinary online content, and its sleek design makes it a supremely elegant addition to the home.

Stunning HDR Visuals
Sony are one of the forerunners of contrast and colour-boosting High Dynamic Range (HDR). As members of the UHD Alliance, they've delivered top-shelf HDR to deepen your view and show shades previously unseen in home entertainment. Expanding light, dark and every colour in between to extraordinary new levels, this model's picture gets closer to real life. This set supports multiple HDR formats including Dolby Vision so whatever entertainment you're enjoying, you'll always get the full, glorious HDR treatment with pin-point accuracy.

4K Ultra High Definition
To respond to screens getting bigger, brands have packed their screens with more pixels. This 55” screen has four times the number of pixels than 1080p Full HD TVs, delivering stunning realism, natural motion and incredible detail.

Features:

X1 Extreme 4K HDR processor: Powering the display is Sony's supremely mighty processor for an image of utterly outstanding accuracy and realism, with 40% more processing power than the original X1 processor.

X-Tended Dynamic Range PRO: This TV has six times the brightness range of a standard LED TV (based on comparison with Sony conventional LED TVs without local dimming). Such a breadth of brilliant whites and deep, rich blacks achieves staggeringly realistic visual detail.

4K X-Reality Pro: Upscales non-4K content to reveal remarkable extra detail. It analyses every single pixel and improves contrast, colour and sharpness for increased clarity no matter what you're watching.

X-Motion Clarity: Keeps fast action smooth and clear with exceptionally precise control to minimise blur. The picture stays true to life with no loss in brightness. Perfect for fast action movies and sports.

TRILUMINOS Display: Expands the colour range way beyond conventional LED displays for a more lustrous image. This richer colour palate gets closer to real-life to make your viewing extraordinary.

I brought mine from Costco for 720 was the last tv in stock. I have this and a XG80, plus 2018 xe, my experience they have been flawless, if you want one the best TVs for image quality then the xf9005 is the best out there, your getting x1 extreme processor and full array led panel. There nothing available at this price. The android software with Google Assistant is good. Just make sure you update the tv to android oreo, this makes big difference on the performance, I had to do mine manually via the Sony support.
Been waiting for this to drop below £700,and i have been eyeing it up for a while. It's still available Here at £795 with a 7 year warranty, extra 2 years warranty or save £96.

I'm looking at the 65xf9005, just hoping it drops below the £999, I need to get a new tv within the next fortnight....would love to take a chance on the LG55 C series OLED, but I really would prefer a 65 inch panel, the XF seems to be a really good tv for just under the 1k mark, I had a look in Currys this set stood out for me the most for the price and for the best quality picture for an LED, the XG series never looked as good a picture for me against the XF series.

As posted before m8 they have it Here for £995 7 year warranty, Ive emailed them to see if they will price match hughes direct on the 55 inch model of this tv. I Am after that 7 year warranty.
I'm not fussed about size but this or the 49xg9005? I presume the xg9005 being newer will be a better model? They are both available at the same price atm with the ebay offer.
No postage to N. Ireland yet they do post if you go through the main Hughes website. Very disappointing!

Indeed. I asked them just that today, they responded "I am sorry we are not able to provide delivery to Northern Ireland on this selling platform." Very unsatisfactory, glad to find these things out pre-purchase though.
I've been tracking this TV since it came out. Really tempted... I currently have a KDL55W829B which is a 5 year old model now. Not sure whether to go for it or not.

Was hoping my TV wouldn't switch on this evening to give me a good excuse to buy this!

Just bought this TV which arrived today. I bought mine from Very as I had a 20% voucher which made it £646.19 including delivery. If I hadn't bought last week I would be buying this deal.

As for this TV, well, I like it and pleased with my choice seeing as I couldn't really test it properly in Currys and went purely off ratings.com review and a guy on here called Waterboy who has this TV. This is my first Sony after years of LG and the odd Samsung.

Good points

The picture quality is extremely good and the only reason I bought this TV. HD viewing is excellent
Picture looks great out of the box and not tweaked anything yet
Looks nice with a small bezel
I think the sound is very decent for a modern TV
Has nice feet for the stand which are extremely easy to attach. Just a case of lifting one end up and then the other so no having to place it face down to attach the stand
All connections are great for wall mounting so can go back to wall
Android app is good if you have an android phone
Ability to disable Youview and use Sony's Freeview tuner
Netflix button on remote
Prefer user interface over LG Webos 1.
Has some nice options like being able to adjust sound levels for attached devices, i.e. sky box to that of Freeview on the TV so if you do switch between devices you are not having to keep adjusting the volume.
Has a full backlit array, i.e it's not edge lit so should impress those who mention backlight bleed.

Bad points

The user interface on Sony is not as user friendly when compared to LG and Samsung as is something you may want to check out first. Not an issue if you have sky or cable.
The TV comes with You view and PVR function. However you are unable to record Youview and need to disable it to use PVR using Sony's tuner.
Enabling Youview disables Freesat and you will lose any Freesat settings if you then enable Youview. You only need Youview for catch up. I have those anyway so it's disabled on mine. A stand alone Youview box will be a better option.
The feet stand should be the same colour as the tv.
You have to manually adjust the setting to upscale certain devices which are capable of providing 4k content.

I had another 2 choices before deciding on this TV which was the Samsung Q60 and the LG SM8600. I ignored the Which review which put the Sony 9% behind the LG but I am happy I made this choice. Personally after buying this TV I cannot understand the Which review as apart from a few negative posts, the consumer reviews are very good.

Ahhh man... I just don’t need it! Or do I? Hate this site!

My only justification is that I have a PS4 Pro and no 4K TV so I feel bad for it.

I also have this never used the youview on this tv after I had great deal on sky Q, image quality is great didn't have to tweek out the box, although you have to adjust for each hdmi input. I had update the android OS manually via USB from Sony support to android 8 with the latest 27th November patch. Overall great TV, plus which magazine waste of time use to be member but they're review of this tv didn't make sense, when nearly every tech site has given this 5 stars.

Mate brought this for main TV, and brought a xg80 43 inch for the bedroom last year, in 2018 brought a Xe80 for backroom, sold my old tvs on gumtree and ebay, it doesn't hurt to much then
wish i went for a 65" version of this instead of my samsung q70r led

I have a 50w829b and it's such a great panel. Even 5 years on I still feel the picture is more than adequate.

it has a few issues. its almost impossible to watch subtitled content because of dimming issue. look on youtube. and also there's the Samsung software which is ugly and limited and bixby personal assistant. the tv doesn't have native atmos support, only passthrough

It has an app for PS4. I may have to buy one but I have always been an Xbox and 360 fan. I did get as far as a PS2 though. I could be too old now.

No not yet. Haven't read up on the features yet. Had a bit more of a play with the TV side of things after I posted yesterday's post. I really like this TV. The picture quality is an improvement over my 2014 LG LB650v and that had a good picture. SD is about the same but definitely looks crisper on the Sony in HD. I don't have sky Q and not tried any Netflix programmes yet.

Thanks to Waterboy as it was his post that pushed me to this TV.

That's a shame. The Q70 has some good reviews. Have you had a look to see if your TV has some tweaks on things.com

I didn't know it wouldn't record Youview but makes no difference to me either. I just thought i would point it out you can't record using it. For anyone who doesn't have sky or cable and wanted to record they could find that a little disappointing as there only appears to be Richer Sounds who tell you in their advert. For me though if ever I ditch sky it would be worth buying a Youview or similar box for recording and catch up. The remote that comes with them is universal so you can use it to work your TV volume and power just like a sky box.

The Which review on this TV is a joke. When they did the angle test they must have been trying to view it at 180 degrees. The most important thing is the screen quality and processor. Here is the good bits they said. What more do you need I ask.

Pros
  • 4K HDR content looks great
  • Clear sound
  • Handles motion well

Did I say I love this TV.
OOS
Can anybody comment on the viewing angles? I'm trying to decide between this and the LG sm9000. The latter being IPS, I thought it'd have better viewing angles, but after looking at the rtings viewing angles videos between the 2, it looks like the Sony actually has the better viewing angle.

Viewing angle is rather important for me since we have 2 which are on the sides so aren't directly facing the tv.
