Take your viewing to the next level with the superb 4K HDR picture of the XG81 from Sony. It unites crisp detail, beautiful colour and smooth motion for exceptional viewing. The TRILUMINOS display delivers authentic, natural-looking colours, while Clear Audio + ensures immersive audio. The Android platform opens up a wealth of online content, you can control it by voice with the Google Assistant, and its minimalist design is supremely elegant.

HDR with HDR10

HDR deepens your view and shows shades previously unseen in home entertainment. Expanding light, dark and every colour in between to extraordinary new levels, this model's picture gets closer to real life. This TV supports multiple HDR formats including HDR10.

4K Ultra High Definition

This 55” screen has four times the number of pixels than 1080p HD TVs, delivering stunning realism, natural motion and incredible detail.

Features:

4K X-Reality Pro: upscales non-4K content to reveal extra detail. It analyses every pixel and improves contrast, colour and sharpness for increased clarity.

TRILUMINOS Display: expands the colour range beyond conventional LED displays for a richer, more lustrous image.

Clear Audio + : fine tunes the audio for a more immersive experience of rich sound and clear dialogue, no matter what you're watching.

Motionflow XR 400: every image on the screen refreshes at a higher rate than normal for noticeably smoother motion. Perfect for fast action movies and sports.

Super-Smart Android Platform

Developed by Google, you'll be able to enjoy seamless entertainment, intelligent search and the latest apps from the likes of Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Youtube and Google Play.* This TV features a special Netflix Calibrated Mode for studio quality content, and it’s also compatible with Alexa devices.

Android TV with Google Assistant

With the Google Assistant built-in, you can use your voice to find your favourite programmes, apps, videos or music, as well as search for information and more. You can also control connected smart devices in your home (smart device control depends on compatibility). Chromecast built-in casts your videos, photos and apps to the TV straight from your smartphone or tablet (Android or iOS) via Wi-Fi. There are also hundreds of apps and games available for you to explore in the Google Play store.

Youview Catch-Up

In addition to a wealth of online entertainment, this set comes with built-in YouView. The seven day scroll back TV guide brings together catch up TV from across BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, All 4 and My5**. You can also enjoy over 70 live TV channels and radio stations for free, such as BBC 1 & 2, ITV, Channel 4, E4, Channel 5, 5 USA, ITV 2 and Dave.

Minimalist Design

The design of the XG81 keeps you focused on the picture. Cable management features keep connecting wires hidden from view in the Dark Silver stand, and a narrow black bezel maximises the viewing area.

Who designed those feet ?

That's Ollie the student they took on work experience last June.
What's the main difference between the Sony Bravia KD55XG8196 vs KD55XG7093?

There is a big price difference, but could somebody explain why?
Can someone explain to me, all the negative about Sony TV. Thinking of buying this, mainly to use Disney +, Netflix and Sky and watching movies from USB hard drive. Would I have any issues with those. Also heard a lot of negative about Sony TVs.

thanks in advance
Does anyone know how this Sony compares to this hotukdeals.com/dea…567
Is there much difference? There seems to be quite a difference in price even when TVs are the same size - are we paying more for brand name?

I've got a 2016 and a 2017 model and both get a lot of use throughout the day, especially at the moment!
I haven't had half the issues a lot of people have experienced, the only time I get a problem is after I've used a VPN and leave the app running, if there is any change to the network it restarts the TV or if you turn the TV off with VPN connected when you next power on it restarts which is a known issue. I use Disney+ and watch stuff via USB and I'm yet to have a problem.
Another one people highlight is performance being laggy, i would usually disable a load of apps I don't use and if you're comfortable with ADB then you can dig a little further. Recently reset my 2016 model following a software update, yet to carry out the usual steps to stop stuff running and it's been fine.

Waffle finished, back to work!

Anyone used this website?... same tv (ex display with what looks like 7 year warranty) and a free wall bracket. I don’t know anything about the web shop but it’s slightly cheaper on there.

Unfortunately not.

So been doing some research and there are some features like Chromecast, Bluetooth and a few other features (which I didnt care about) which is in 8196 not 7093.
Has Android TV improved? How sluggish is it?
