Correct!!!

I think its closer to £90 savings
making the deal around £510 in total

VAT isnt 20% yet if it was then £480 was correct

were both wrong vat =£105 so 599.99 - 105 = £494.99 forgot still 17.5% thanks

Don't forget Amazon are a Nectar eStores retailer so potentially a teeny bit more cashback that way.
ie 1 point per £1, so £599 = 599 points = almost £3 worth at Argos

And re the VAT - the Amazon price will be 100% net + 17.5% VAT = 117.5% inc VAT = retail price charged by Amazon.
So you just divide by 1.175 to find the net price = the £510.xx quoted by some.

Wrong still, VAT is ADDED to the price not worked out as 17.5% off the top price, if your doing it that way its actually 14.89%

Heres the link to the V.A.T calculator makes it so much easier johnlewis.com/jl_…swf

bit complicated this vat stuff

Lol, going to look at this to see if everyone bar one is as simple as they make out.

Is the TV any good.?? We know VAT is ****... hahaha

Jeez, put my neck out and say simpletons.
Price 599.99 and vat claimed back so 599.99 \ 1.175 =510.63 where is the confusion?
Also add vat 510.63 * 1.175 = 599.99.

use the VAT inclusive amount X 7/47 to get the VAT or X 40/47 to get the net amount.

Personally going to wait for 42" Panasonic plasma g20.

its done hope everyones happy now

good spec and good reviews dont forget got built in blu-ray and freeview HD

G20 is not that special, just returned mine for the Sony EX503 as the G20 has terrible ghosting on the scart channels. Been and compared with other Panasonics and only the G10 and G20 seem to suffer.

Anyone who has this TV, how's the blu ray player in it? I realise it won't be as good as a decent standalone player, but does it do all the HD audio decoding and stuff? Is it actually worth the extra £75 on top of the KDL40EX403U ?

Hi

Only issue I have with the blu ray player is when playing blu ray disks there is a small whine from the disk at the start of the movie gets quieter once you are half way through. Not an issue with DVD's I think they spin at lower rpm.

Thanks...

"CONS:
- The software, although brilliant, is quite slow and from switching on to actually viewing your selected channel takes a while
- The speakers are pretty good, but with "hidden" speakers, they are never going to be amazing, let's face it
- The ports at the back aren't an issue for me, but they are not intelligently positioned (HDMI, especially)
- The "wireless" function requires you to buy a Sony-only dongle which is almost £70, that's plain crazy (hence why I cannot accurately review how good the wireless streaming of YouTube/Five etc is) "

Taken from amazon customer review...

VAT is con - John Lewis had the KDL40EX403 for £479 last week (check the posted deal) - this week £584 - ridiculous con - shame on your Sony/John Lewis!

Sorry deal was posted for Macro (membership required) but I checked on John Lewis website and they had reduced the set which I bought at £499 the previous week to £479. Good set by the way - internet TV works very well but I ran a CAT5 cabel to my router instead of spending £70 on Sony wireless dongle. Much better quality than iplayer on a laptop or Wii IMHO.
