Cheapest online price by quite a fair bit I believe.. Wouldn't it be great if the scrappage scheme applied on this..

Would John Lewis price match this. ? If so could get this TV a 5 year warranty and the possibility to trade in your old 15" CRT Screen and receive £150 off it...

Why is this cold. ?

Possibly because I listed it at this price on Amazon a month ago:

hotukdeals.com/ite…u-/

I don't know why it was expired, the price never changed for more than a few hours.

probably one of the best LCDs ive seen, the black levels on this are excellent for an LCD

RRP is around £900 in most shops

It would be £100 trade in on a 40" ....£150 on 46"+

No John Lewis won't price match internet prices. It's also only £749.99 from Richer Sounds, which John Lewis will price match...Not exactly a great price since it's available in a lot of places at that price.

What's this trade in business?

I have an old 23" CRT TV in the loft, I could trade this in and get money off a TV at John Lewis?? :?

Edit - Just found this in the AV Forums - ]http//ww…tml

Apparently if you buy any Sony TV when trading in any old TV

This TV is brilliant, i have last years version the W4500, which is awesome, cost me £850

Which was a bragain! this for under £800 is awesome!

How is it cheaper?

£850 was more than £759 when I went to school :whistling:

So you've got a blu-ray player and a few bits .. what use would that be to someone only after the TV?!

If you don't need the extras you've got the hassle of selling them etc.

That aside .. ]same price here but with 3 year warranty (not sure of warranty at Amazon).

I still don't see why if you spend hundreds of pounds on a new tv you shoud have to buy a warranty.

If the products are that unreliable the manufacturer should include a five year warranty in the price.

I think people just like peace of mind

Nice earner for the shop though like Currys who push the warranty the minute you've said you want to buy a certain model.

I personally wouldn't pay extra for one, but in this case would take 3 years free over whatever Amazon offer.

I got this TV with a "Free" Blu-ray Player and delivery for £800 at the Sony Center in Brighton a month or so ago, absolutely brilliant TV, XBOX 360 looks incredible and sold the Blu-ray player to get the slim PS3.

Only problem I'e found is that common backlight problem that alot of LCD's get but hey, ill see how it goes

Highly Recommended!

£800? Are you sure? Cheapest I have heard of is £850 and most commonly £900-£950.

Has Anyone found a branch of John Lewis that carries this model? The one in Kingston doesn't stock it.

OK. I've now discovered that John Lewis do have this set, but they call it KDL40W5710. It is functionally identical. They list it for £999.

Will they price match it to £749.99 and then take another £100 off for the scrappage deal effectively making this set £649.99? Has anyone tried this and succeeded?

Also, why is the Richer Sounds warranty only 1 year when Sony have increased their manufacturer's warranty to 3 years for this model?

Yes they will, I have price matched this and intend to take advantage of the scrappage scheme. Mine is being ordered in for collection on Saturday.

I can see lots of tv shops with a backroom full of old tv's.

John Lewis will match the £749 price, but they are not are participating store of the scrappage scheme. They make out they are but in actual fact they add £109 making it £858, they then remove £100 as it is a 40" TV so it costs you £9 to get rid of an old TV you could for nothing and they dont take anymore off the price.

Still think its good to match the price and get a 5 year warranty though.

so why not repost as john lewis price match of richer sounds and take £100 for the trade in.

The trade in can be any tv, working or not!!

therfore tv price : 649.99 with a five year warranty!!!

just bought the kdl40s5500 for £400. yay me!! delivery next week!

Because if you read it properly i stated before that the cheapest you will get it from John Lewis is £749.

If you want to do the scrappage scheme they put £109 on the price then take £100 off so it ends up costing you £9 to scrap a tv working or not! The price of the TV does not change from £749.
