Same. It is taking quite some willpower though! I've read a lot of reviews and I'm convinced that it is a gorgeous TV for the price.

John Lewis will also price match the Silver model for £499 with Currys if you prefer that colour.

I have this TV and its great, image quality is amazing and sound isnt too bad either.

Around what time do you guys think the price will start to drop? I was after the 32 inch model but i might as well wait it out if it will come down in a few months.

Price will always drop like with any other tv. As this is a 2013 model which came out in April. I think price of £499 will stay till after Xmas. Mite get around another £30-50 off in the sale? Maybe. A big price drop will only come when the 2014 models are out.

Does anyone know if this would wall mount into a chimney breast? the TV would be flush with the wall,
theres a inch gap all around the cut out.
i know it has its own wall mount and theres no vesa holes :-(

cheers

I managed to get the Sony KDL40W905A from John Lewis on Saturday, for £999.97 as opposed to the £1249 John Lewis are charing if anyone would prefer that television. price matched with Power Direct which is located in Bolton. (This was in the Cheadle Hulme John Lewis) - Very happy with Sony TV's.

do sony tvs have YouTube app?

Great TV. Got ours from JL last week. Hoping they'll price match at the end of the week as we bought it instore.

Amazing TV, paid £520 a few months ago on amazon with absolutely no regrets.

It's by far the best LED TV on the market at the moment for gaming too, has extremely low input lag.

I've had this TV for a few weeks - amazing picture, good features, very very happy. Go for it

It does also have a Youtube app (though I've never used it so can't comment on it beyond that it has one!).

Yes it does.

Ordered mine from JL at the weekend, isn't being delivered till nearer the end of the month though... I can wait

Really looking forward to getting this set after all I've read/heard.

Hot!

pity it only has 2 hdmi ports

That's a shame. Might have purchased it otherwise. 4 ports should be the minimum these days

I can highly recommend this TV, got about 2-3 months ago from JL for £499 on a price match with Tesco instore price at the time. Picture quality is great (no 3D but I didn't want 3D), Freeview HD is excellent and awesome for gaming (using PS3). Didn't think I'd use it much, but the USB record comes in handy, got an old 160gb laptop drive connected now and does the trick. Sound is a bit weak (no base), but most new thin TV's are pretty much the same in this area and I have a surround sound system anyway.

Great deal......

Anybody looking to get a decent TV for around this price range, I'd highly recommend this. I've only had it around 3 months, but the picture quality is sublime and in comparison to it's equal in Samsung and Panasonic (I tried them all out in different stores before deciding), it is far sharper, more vibrant and works a treat - amazing bit of kit

Ordered it on Saturday when it was first posted, now thinking of buying a matching Skype camera from HK..
Is there a way to have both, Skype camera and USB flash drive (pausing) working at the same time ? In other words, does it support USB Hub in this configuration ?

Why do the screens have to be so reflective. I want to see what's on the TV, not the room I'm sitting in.

I was so going to buy this TV but then I went into a Richer Sounds store near Liverpool St Station in London. They had a similar Panasonic and LV and I saw some scrolling end-of-film subtitles. The titles on this Sony was just so "jerky" whilst the other 2 TVs were scrolling silky smooth.

I'm not a TV expert at all! But the RS guy said (I think!) that this was because of the (is it 100MHz) rate of this TV. Whatever it was, I wondered if the TV was so jerky on the titles, would I notice this elsewhwere too?

I want to buy this TV but am concerned about what I saw! Any feedback about this would be helpful. Thanks.

The tv is 200MHz not 100MHz

Great gaming TV due to low input lag. Hot!

We have had this tv for a few months, with no complaints. Picture quality is excellent. John Lewis will price match if bought from them within 28 days.

Great tv i paid £430 with my mrs double discount weekend would highly recommend tv awesomr

Not sure about dual USB in hub config but be aware that the TV only supports the corresponding Sony Webcam. A bit of a swizz really as thats £80-100.

200MHz, that would be impressive. Think you mean Hz.

Can be had for £30ish on eBay as it looks.

Apparently there isn't Motionflow on this set & instead it's LED motion instead which causes dimming and flickering. Can anyone that owns it check in their settings for it?

Anyway, still seems the best TV set in this price range for gaming, which I'll primarily use it for/

Do you recall which model of the LG and Panasonic you saw.

Most, if not all, the manufacturers announce their new ranges in January at CES. Depending on various factors, they can start shipping new models 1-3 months after that. You'll probably see price drops in the January sales (or December if sales are sluggish as has been the case in recent years) as they start clearing stocks.

this was most probably due to watching interlaced content on progressive mode.
know the p or i at the end of 1080.... makes a difference especially on scrolling text.
would recommend going back and changing the mode of the TV to i and seeing if the problem goes away

A true console gaming TV! Great for that new PS4.

Bought the 50" Model from John Lewis, price matched to £750, amazing tv, highly recommend it for all your TV, films and gaming.

Enjoy!

I bought the 42" silver version of this TV from Tesco in July and got it for £474 (with a £25 discount on promotion). It is a fantastic TV and compared to our previous Sony Bravia I can't believe how thin it is! The picture quality is awesome (especially on the HD channels), although as some people have mentioned the sound quality could be better. I might invest in a soundbar - any suggestions? The smart features on the TV are great and I linked it to my Virgin superhub in minutes. I don't think you will find a better TV for the price.

The problem with this TV and all smart tvs apart from the Samsung tvs is they don't have 4OD and ITV player.

i want to buy this tv in "buy now pay later" option, something like argos but with 5 years guarantee, maybe anybody know where i can do this? lewis and currys dont accept this form of payment

The only way your going to get buy now pay later is getting it on silly credit but you wont get the 5 year guarantee.

If there is a Fenwicks store near by they do 5 year guarantee and 12 montsh interest free. not sure what the price of the TV is with them. I know there is a Fenwicks in Newcastle

This is over my budget by £100, and as such, I can't really afford it this month, but all the glowing reviews are making me very, very tempted.
