Thanks for your deal. I've added the price and merchant to your title for you

Got a similar deal from curry's for this earlier in the year. Its a great TV. The soundbar is decent enough too. Just doesn't have the loud punch I was expecting. Either that or the hearings going...

£10 cheaper on Amazon if you're less worried about the guarantee

amazon.co.uk/dp/…c=1

Pay the extra tenner and have the guarantee.

Yeah, I'd do the same if I didn't have a whole load of Amazon vouchers to spend. Can't decide between this TV and the Samsung UE40H6700. Sony has always been great quality, but Samsung have better Smart features

Richer sounds have this with a blu Ray player instead of a soundbar for the same price.

I got John Lewis to price match the Samsung with Campton and Moore at £499.

Good TV, Smart features are really a gimic. Just load up Plex and nothing else necessary.

That's because it's just a Soundbar.

Guess you've not heard of a Sonos playbar?

Be aware, this does not use the same screen as the 50" and 55" versions. It uses a much inferior screen, and therefore is not comparable to the 50" and 55" versions. My advice would be to either buy the bigger screen version of this model or move over to a different model (W7?) or brand entirely if you're looking at 42" screens.

go with Sony, I ha

go with Sony, I have the 46w905 and it's absolutely brilliant, can't fault it at all! looked at the w829 and agree that it's a great screen as well, as said in another post tho, go bigger if you can stretch it

I'm in same boat as you. It is disappointing Sony chose to fit a 50Hz panel in the 42" W829 and so removed the 'Motionflow' setting which can be found in 50" and larger W829s which use 100Hz panels. The H6700 appears to have a 100Hz panel and the TV makes full use of the panel's 100Hz abilities.

On a different note, I currently have a 4 year old Samsung C450 in for repair at John Lewis. As far as I could google, it appears to have a power board fault which afflicts this particular model. One of the non-Electrolytic capacitors possibly gone bad.

I am completely confused now. I thought this was supposed to be a great 42 inch tv

I guess I will go with the Samsung then, thanks for letting me know about this

There's only one review I could find for the 42W829. If you read the comment at the end of the article, it even advises getting the bigger 50 inch "which is equipped with blur-busting motion interpolation technology" (ie. 100Hz panel with 'Motionflow' menu setting) if space and budget permit.

I got the 50" this week from JL and I must say that the pic is stunning

While I do agree with AJ, it's still a good TV albeit 50hz but... It still out performs a Samsung which has terrible colour banding and lack of detail which the Sony does thanks to the X-Reality Pro. While not trying to sound like a Sony fan boy, if you want to store and asked for the demonstration you will see the Sony has a far better picture quality but you will notice the screen judder.

I have this tv, excellent picture quality but you're going to need that sound bar as the built in speakers are garbage. If you put the volume up slightly just so you can hear it all you get is muffled bass and rumbling, it becomes really distorted.

It's been that price for ages. I would recommend waiting until Black Friday. John Lewis reduced the sony range last year by a decent amount

hope so nice little price match then ha ha ha ha

Gotta say have this particular TV 42w829BBU a month and love it. Was torn between it and a H range Samsung but in the end Sony was the winner! I did not want possible audio sync issues!

looks like the price has gone up now to £563.95. Possibly in readiness for Black Friday so it can be discounted again!
