Not bad for 2017 model

  • HDR: Brilliant highlights, beautiful textures. HDR preserves the detail in the brightest and darkest scenes found in PS4 games and Netflix titles, for a more dynamic and realistic picture. *Compatible with all HDR PS4 Game titles via HDMI and HDR videos of built-in Netflix app only.
  • Triluminos Display. Life's vibrance, revealed through extra colours. Like an artist painting a beautiful picture, Triluminos Display uses a wider colour palette, to accurately reproduce vivid and realistic hues and shades on screen.
  • X-Reality PRO. Rediscover every detail. X-Reality PRO upscales and refines the pixels on screen for reduced noise and enhanced clarity.
  • Full Smart TV. Smart TV - More than just TV. Browse the web, watch your favourite YouTube clips and enjoy popular apps on the big screen.
  • Motionflow XR. Keeping the action smooth. Enjoy smooth and sharp details even in fast-paced action scenes thanks to Motionflow XR technology.

This is a 1080p (Full HD) model not 4K, check the model number on Sonys website.

Seriously? People would opt for a near 500 quid 1080 tv in 2017 when there are some stonking 4K tv deals around at similar price points?

will get people saying them 4k tvs are not as good as 2k 4k tvs however I agree, even 1080p content looks better on my 500£ samsung 4k tv

"Stonking 4k tv deals" around now are for low end 4K, a quick look in the comments section of the 4K deals will show you the problems people are having with these. This is a high end HD set, one of the best available.
£100 cheaper than the nearest competition, so on that basis alone it has to be hot.

Look up the 55" Phillips posted here. It's not a high end 4K model but it's certainly better than this high end 1080 TV, it's also much bigger.

I don't think it has. I saw it pretty much as soon as it was posted and it said full HD. I would've gotten all flustered if there was even a shred of hope it was 4K, but I didn't.

Not for gaming it isn't. Just because it's 4K doesn't make it automatically a better TV

It's not as simple as that. Whilst the Philips 55PUS6401 that regularly pops up on here is undoubtedly good value, not everyone wants or needs a screen of that size, nor do people always base what to buy on the basis of finding the biggest possible screen size for a particular price. The Philips you mention has an IPS panel and if this Sony is equipped with a VA panel (as used in the previous WD753) that may be an important consideration to someone that prefers better black levels vs the wider viewing angles of IPS.
I may go on about this, but the one key feature all Sonys have is a lack of PWM backlighting. Sadly we have to pay a premium for something now implemented in every PC monitor due to it being a recognised health issue.

Ever wondered why you get so irritated watching Eastenders with the other half? It's not just the bad acting, it's that flickering backlight giving you a headache, causing nausea and affecting your nervous system.

The title has not been edited it said all along that it was HD what i edited was the wrong information in the description and i took that off the amazon page
For anyone planning to consume a lot more SD content than 4K content a Full HD is perfect, a Full HD TV will handle SD content far better than any 4K TV in the same price range.
Does this have usb recording built in?

So the point that I made at the start is valid.

Resolution is a complete non-issue on a TV of this size unless you're sitting at a desk and using it as a computer monitor.

I agree, I'm glad that somebody else shares my disdain for such poor English.

I'd certainly consider buying this over a 4K TV..... firstly I can't fit anything bigger in my butler's room, secondly I doubt he'd benefit from 4K when watching his blu rays or SkyHD (I do treat him well you but will not be going the 4K route for a while)

I'd much rather get a top end Full HD than a low/mid range 4K as resolution alone does not maketh the TV.
Can't find much about this Sony online.

Would something like this be preferential in my use case, in comparison to something like the 50" Samsung at Argos or the 55" Toshiba from Costco posted up today.

I'm moving into my own place next month, all I need is something with a good picture that I can hook my macbook up and play movies/tv shows, and use for console gaming.
