So this isn't a 4K TV, it's a 1080p TV with HDR support?

Nothing exciting, it's only HDR compatibility so it can show more than a black screen if you feed it HDR content. It doesn't any hardware to display the extra HDR information.

The next model up, the WE75, does offer a wider colour gamut for HDR which could make it an interesting sub-£500 gaming TV come the end of the year. The extra colours of HDR with none of the performance hit of 4K.

No local dimming unfortunately, maybe if it's successful Sony will introduce that in a year or two.
If Sony are still using the Android software i'd avoid,i've got a 2015 non 4k Bravia & it's temremental
This is my first post and my whole focus was the new Sony TV range and the saving of a quid!
I'm after a new 8 bit or 10 bit HDR 4K TV, who would you say have the edge?

Sony have never used Android on the W series.

And reports say it's improved on the X series with newer versions and newer TVs.

This is a deal site though, not a price drop notification site. In eight months time this will be ~£450 like the current WD65, which isn't long in the lifetime of a TV. There are also far higher quality models available for £700 right now, those that have been out for a year.

If you can point out some reason why this TV is unusual and fills a requirement better than another £700 model it might be a deal, but it doesn't seem like one at the moment.

That depends on how much you're thinking of spending. Samsung's KS7000 is a good entry level model, if you want the best then the Sony ZD9 is generally the one to go for. In the middle, Panasonic's DX902 is great value too.

I agree with batemansxxxb. I have a Sony android which is less than a year old, I wish I'd never bought it
