Product information

See all the action on a glorious 50” Full HD screen. The Sony W829 looks great too with metal accents and a super-slim design. The TV also features a built-in bass speaker that pushes out superior sound - perfect for sports and films! It’s Smart too, boasting great catch up services, Skype compatibility, Twitter and full Opera browser. Along with Active 3D, it’s ready to take your viewing to a whole new level.
Exceptional images
Along with Full HD, 3D and a smooth simulated 800Hz motion rate, this TV boasts X-Reality PRO, an advanced set of technologies that refines and sharpens every detail on-screen.
For sports fans…
Experience a stadium atmosphere in your own living room. Live Football Mode automatically adjusts the sound settings so the roar of the crowd is loud and clear. You can also browse football videos from YouTube and the FIFA sites with ease.
Smart apps
BBC iPlayer, Demand 5, Netflix and more give you the flexibility to watch what you want, when you want. There’s also a built-in Opera web browser to get you surfing the net from your armchair.
Made for audio
Hear clear, full-range sound from a compact Bass Reflex speaker inside your TV. There's no distortion or unwanted vibration even when the action gets loud.
Touchpad remote
The One-Flick remote (available separately) will bring complete ease-of-use to the W7 with its responsive touchpad and intuitive interface.
Screen mirroring
Through a simple wireless connection, screen mirroring lets you view your videos, photos, and more on your TV.
Built-in wall mount
The TV's integrated stand doubles as a wall-mounting bracket, so there's no need to go out and buy one. Please note, this TV is not compatible with other, external brackets.
Sound Bars
With TVs getting slimmer and built-in speakers getting smaller - choosing the right sound system is more important than ever. Sound bars add that extra audio punch to all your movies, games and TV programmes. More affordable and easier to set up than a full size speaker system, they don’t compromise on quality either.

Is this a good buy? seems to be quite well reviewed. I wanted the Samsung ue48h6400 from John Lewis, but they have sold out of it. would this be a good alternative?
can anyone suggest a good price match?

Keep trying. I got them to match the 60" down to either RGB or PRC (I can't remember) but it took two different email requests. All depends on who opens your request I think.

Ended up getting the 60" for £1099 with a 5-year guarantee. Absolutely fantastic TV. One small problem, I now have to pay for it!

At tesco its 499

hi bought a 50W829 6 months back from richer sounds. Suffered from terrible back light bleed and dse. swapped it twice and replacements were worse. shame it's a lovely design but in my opinion the Samsung h6400 I have now is much better for image quality, HD sources seem sharper too compared to the Sony.

That's the 42 inch

Nothing against this deal, but you will see more and more Sony TV's discounted as the new CES relseases are due on sale this month. They have the new AndroidTV OS and X1 processor (for 4K TV's). I have no idea how much the new one's will cost, or whether it is a significant improvement although most reviews seem to rate the new OS highly. I guess its food for thought, and keep your eyes open for deals as stock dwindles and the new one's go on sale. Hope this helps!

It isnt a standard vesa size, you have to get an adaptor plate for it. Im looking to get one this week, ill let you know how it goes.

The tvs great by the way

I don't want Active 3D. Pity they don't do it with Passive 3D.

You need something like this vesa adaptor
This enables you to mount tv to normal wall bracket

I wouldn't buy Sony for 3D again. Glasses are awful. They made some better ones but they were horribly overpriced. Then they discontinued them in favour of these.
