Hopfully ive done it right now, thanks for the heads up

I've just requested jl to price-match too, let's see what their reply is ;-)

Tempted to get this! Reviews have hardly anything bad to say about it!

I bought one of these a couple of days ago from JL. They price matched in store to £799. A few more quid off would be nice, but don't you have to add the 5 year warranty to the deal to make it like-for-like? And what about P&P*? Isn't this site NI?

I've just tried to sumbit a claim online, but as I bought instore I have to telephone them direct.

I can't see why you'd go for this over the Samsung, especially given the price gap. Sony might have the edge in picture and sound quality, but I reckon the 3D and definitely the Smart features will be slicker on the Sammy.

A unboxing video on youtube shows it comes with a power brick for the power? has anyone put the tv on the wall? If so what have you done with it?

I'm still getting used to the picture of LED compared to my old plasma - it'll probably take a while.

I'm rather disappointed with the inbuilt speakers. However, my ol' Panny plasma had decent, front facing speakers on the side, so I've been spoilt to a degree. Fortunately, I have a 5.1 system to fall back on but using it for everyday viewing, e.g. CBBC is a bit ott.

It's up to £759.99 now.

I've been looking at this for a while - quite annoyed that the base price seems to have gone up since the end of the World Cup (it was around the high £700's including soundbar and PS4 raffle).

Tempting, but will probably go for the 705 over the next few months to save a few £'s as I'm not interested in the 3d component.

I tried to match this TV after purchasing it earlier this month in store. JL told me they cannot do the price match because the store needs to be within a 30 mile radius of the JL store even if they offer it online. Do I have a case to go back to them?

i have this tv great tv good price ty OP for your post

Excellent TV - had mine about a month and coming from a plasma I was a bit concerned about the picture quality - need not have worried.

The 3D is nothing special (but not bothered at all by that). Smart features again not bothered about but they aren't bad at all. The main reason for getting this one over the Samsung will be if you're a gamer. However, the price gap is worth considering (I got mine when the sound bar promotion was on so sold that to get some money off).

Samsung 6400 input lag: 43ms
Sony W829 input lag: 22ms

HDTV test of the Sony and the Samsung (though in smaller 40 inch form).

I bought this TV for £729 at Costco around 4 months ago. For the price it is by far the best TV currently available! The blacks are sheer jet black and the gaming is on another level to the rest. The only down points to this TV is the whites could do with a little more vibrancy and the 3D is pure crap, but don't let this put you off as you will not be disappointed by a long stretch!!!

Doesn't look like the Sammy has Freesat HD though, not an issue to most but is for me as don't have an aerial on the house at the mo.

been keeping an eye on this tv as ive been happy with the 42 inch W653 i bought last year but am worried at a few comments that the 3D is crap.Any more info would be appreciated

Every ones different...not interested in apps at all...just want decent picture

As good as this TV is, and for the money it really is excellent, but it has nothing on a Panasonic plasma.

Just a shame they've stopped making then.

Never heard of them.

Very surprised JL agree to price match such a random unknown website.

Pointless remark

If you're buying a TV with 3D and the general consensus is that, in that particular aspect, it's crap...that's cause for concern!

...does this TV have Netflix and/or amazon prime unlimited?

I'm currently looking at this TV as mentioned above it is probably the best for gaming due to the ultra fast response time so will go great with my XB1 and PS4. Good price although Im not sure if I want the 55 inch version or this. I've heard that the 3D on the 55 inch version is better but I need to do some more reading.

I am also looking at this TV, Apparently the 3D is not great, It is not really full HD 3D, more like half HD if that makes sense, input lag is excellent, blacks are great. I have asked JL for a price match and am awaiting for a response, I planed to buy this TV Saturday for £800 with a 7 year warranty from a local retailer, 5 year Sony warranty then an additional 2 year shop warranty.

Agreed, For movies you can not beat plasma, especially a Panasonic plasma, My panni plasma needs a new panel and that would cost more than a new TV. If they still produced plasmas I would not hesitate in buying again as there are superb for movies.

Like I said earlier,I have now had this tv fora couple of weeks....but I heavily reviewed this telly on usa and uk sites..try amazon for reviews..richer sounds etc..tried 3D..it's not for me but it seemed ok watching gravity on blu ray..all in all I am more than happy.i love it...wot I do reccommend is added sound system cos speakers are crap.i went for sony hdx1 sound base....I heavily revised that as well as I have never had an audio system..I love this as well.it has the ARC hdmi on tv and sound base...every thing connects perfect and sounds great..buy this tv.you get a lot for your buck..only snag I had was the vesa fittings.or lack of one..do some research and you will see..if you use fitting from box you will have no problems at all...if vesa fittings you will need after market spacer for back of tv..hope this helps

Bought one of these from Costco for £829, to replace a PLASMA, this is far better and I was a plasma advocate since day one, always hated LCD TV's but this is superb, blacks are out of this world.

I agree about the blacks, I compared this set with a Panasonic LCD in a side by side demo and the Sony won hands down.

Plasma's are feckin' heavy too, and use a lot more energy!

...I do have a 50" plasma panny and it is pretty ace...5 years old now too

So are John Lewis price matching at a different price to that advertised by jccampbellelectrics, at £759.99. If so, how much is it matched at, by John Lewis please. Thinking of getting this T.V. soon.

Yes, it has both as I actually use them! I agree with your statement too, i don't have any intentions of using the 3D therefore this wasn't a concern in the slightest for me.

One small thing, this is described as Freeview / Freesat HD, whist this has a satellite tuner it doesn't have the Freesat EPG.
