The 55W829 is currently advertised at £699 with John Lewis with the offer due to end this week (whether the price will go back up again is unknown!), but you can price match against HiSpek to get it for £689.95 with the added benefit of the 5 year warranty.

I have received a successful price match response.

It is clear the price of this TV is on it's way down to make way for newer models, but this is the cheapest I have seen it yet. The price match request will also give the added comfort of 28 days if the price goes down any further.

Cold, not 4k. The pixels on this telly are so large, you can play chess on them.

Great TV, bought this the other day from richer sounds for £699 as a stop gap until 4Kus mainstream. Really decent picture and excellent for gaming with its low latency.

Fantastic TV.

"There’s just no sugarcoating this: the KDL-55W955B is the worst-performing Sony Bravia flagship HDTV we’ve reviewed in terms of picture quality. It’s a disappointing departure from the excellent heritage of high-end Bravia TVs, all because of the use of IPS-type LCD TV panel that’s notorious for shallow blacks – perhaps it’s a strategic decision by Sony to funnel potential buyers towards the company’s 4K Ultra HD models?"

Wrong telly. . .

Good price! HEAT

Great TV. Got mine about 6/7 week's from John Lewis for £657 price matched. Hot

Great TV. Not the 2nd coming of Christ like most people & website reviews would make you think, but a good TV. I picked this model up about 3 weeks ago from Currys in a sale for £598.99 (£300 off, Argos was doing the same sale as well but only £270 off) plus they gave me a free SoundBar-to-TV assembly kit that was marked up as £40 for free. Don't know if it was a mistake or an apology as they had sent me to a different store to pick it up as they had none in stock & when I arrived at the 2nd store they were charging £100 more for the same TV. Which reminds me I still haven't stuck the soundbar adaptor on Ebay yet.

It's 699 at many retailers.....JL price match many retailers....COLD

Has anyone got decent picture settings for this TV? When I'm gaming it's terrible. Static text goes blurred when you move around quickly. The "game" scene select is slightly better but not great.

Thanks.

Good TV but waiting for JL to pick up the second one which got delivered on Saturday. First one had a dead pixel and second one has a stuck pixel. Hoping to be third time lucky.

I received mine on thursday No dead pixels but a big patch of cloud left of centre screen. really noticable on dark scenes. After wiping the screen with a soft cloth it has reduced greatly but have already scheduled a return with JL. Stunning TV though

Start by going into the picture settings and disabling any pitcure processing options. Anything set to high, med, low or any other setting that can be switched to off - switch to off!

So what's the point of having the processing features? Do TV manufacturers really implement them to make the pictures worse?

They're there for marketing purposes. Sounds great on paper but not in reality.

I also picked on of these tv up locally and the picture was superb until dark scences where I could see 2 blue blobs on the screen. 1 in the bottom left and the other bang straight in the middle. so I took it back and got another. the next one had no blobs just really bad light bleed from the bottom.... the blacks looked white worse I have seen on any tv. I couldnt stomach trying another, I guess I was just unlucky after reading most of the review on here.

also the 3d is horrible but this wont bother most as some think it is gimmicky. I like 3d and I couldnt watch a whole film on this set.

these of course just my opinions and I dont want to upset anyone

I'm still waiting for Sony to send my replacement. My first one had a large L shaped light cloud on the left hand aside of the screen. Very off putting in dark scenes as you can imagine.

I'm seriously considering just keeping the one I have. Since wiping the screen the clouding is barely visible. Just a little light bleed in the corners. If I sit bang centre it's a perfect picture. This might be about as perfect as these things get.

Please don't confuse the model posted here with Sony KDL55W955B (a snippet from the conclusion which you have copied and pasted on here).
They have a review for the 50" version of this model which they have rated highly:

Sounds like a keeper to me. I wouldnt swap it if it is like you described

Strange must have copied it twice

I didn't try wiping mine. Perhaps I should have. Did it remove it completely? The cloud on mine wasn't noticeable if you sat dead on centre to the telly but moving just slightly off made it obvious. When you have a TV for family viewing that's not much use.

Hahahaha
