The TV also features a built-in bass speaker that pushes out superior sound - perfect for sports and films! It’s Smart too, boasting great catch up services, Skype compatibility, Twitter and full Opera browser. Along with Active 3D, it’s ready to take your viewing to a whole new level.

Exceptional images
Along with Full HD, 3D and a smooth simulated 800Hz motion rate, this TV boasts X-Reality PRO, an advanced set of technologies that refines and sharpens every detail on-screen.

For sports fans…
Experience a stadium atmosphere in your own living room. Live Football Mode automatically adjusts the sound settings so the roar of the crowd is loud and clear. You can also browse football videos from YouTube and the FIFA sites with ease.

Smart apps
BBC iPlayer, Demand 5, Netflix and more give you the flexibility to watch what you want, when you want. There’s also a built-in Opera web browser to get you surfing the net from your armchair.

Made for audio
Hear clear, full-range sound from a compact Bass Reflex speaker inside your TV. There's no distortion or unwanted vibration even when the action gets loud.

Touchpad remote
The One-Flick remote (available separately) will bring complete ease-of-use to the W7 with its responsive touchpad and intuitive interface.

Screen mirroring
Through a simple wireless connection, screen mirroring lets you view your videos, photos, and more on your TV.

Sound Bars

With TVs getting slimmer and built-in speakers getting smaller - choosing the right sound system is more important than ever. Sound bars add that extra audio punch to all your movies, games and TV programmes. More affordable and easier to set up than a full size speaker system, they don’t compromise on quality either.

We are looking for a TV for our new house, was going to take the plunge and buy this as the 4K ones are much more expensive than this one but this Sony has got great reviews!

If you guys think it will come down more I will hold out.

John Lewis do refund the difference if it goes down in 28 days?

how do you get the tv stand in this price. im i missing something here.....

Does anything stop you returning the stand later on? Saying you have no receipt and it was a gift? Website says you would get vouchers back- anyone know for sure?

do the 3d glasses need batteries for this tv

I have this TV and can confirm it does.

If this hits 700, it would be great!

Have gone for this TV. Thanks for the deal.
Now, just need to find someone who wants to buy the TV stand from me? and then buy a decent sound bar.

Comes with a free stand though

I've got the 42" version and getting it wall mounted is turning into a real pain. They've got a system where the stand doubles as a wall bracket. Good for some but as it doesn't use the standard vesa system. This means if you want to mount it to an existing wall mount or simply want to use a standard vesa compatible wall bracket (as you may want to mount a different tv using the same wall bracket one day) you need to buy adaptors. If you read the reviews they also have issues with people saying because of the adaptors, when you hang the tv you can see parts of the wall mount behind the tv - not ideal.

Somewhat wish I'd gone for a different tv as I really wanted to wall mount the tv.

That 2-in-1 stand/wall mount applies only to the 42" and 50" in the W8 range. The 55" (which is what this deal is for and also what I have myself) has standard vesa holes. I mounted mine painlessly. Great TV and great deal.

I have the 50" version of this TV. Great TV and gaming is excellent on it

Good to know, getting it delivered next Friday, so hopfully straight swap for my 46w5500? on another note had JL price match marks electrical for 760ish plus free stand, doubled checked if stand included with the price match and they said yes as long as ordered before 15th.

Beware it's not ips and viewing angles are atrocious. I returned mine. Everything looks 'pink' when you view off centre.

Yes

Bought this before Christmas with the Sony soundbar.

Although I have not used it, the TV stand does double up as a wall mount.

Cracking TV. Lots of comments from people when they see it. Love the Netflix button

It's good that it's not a an IPS. Because the VA screen is better, quality-wise.

Just so people are aware. Not everyone sits right in front of the screen. It was a deal breaker for me. I had very high hopes for this after reading all the reviews.

It still pailed in comparison to my plasma Kuro mind..

How likely is this to go sub £700?
I know John Lewis will refund the difference if it goes down? Don't want to miss out on this TV!

yeah, but, no but, the stand sort of makes up for it? £180-the stand= bit better

Ordered, can't wait until next Saturday morning now! thanks op!

Be good to see a pic of this on the wall showing how far it sits off the wall - don't suppose anyone's seen one, can't see anything online?

This has got freesat also right ? according to sony

NO !

Sony at the moment do not pay the Freesat organisation licencing fee and therefore if your Sony TV has a Satellite tuner - it will certainly give you all the UK channels (and all receivable European channels) BUT you DO NOT get the Freesat 7 day in advance EPG - just now and next program information.

May UK retailers including John Lewis falsely advertise these Sony TVs as having Freesat !!

Good price and has been this price for over a week. Got it last month from JL for £799 without the stand. Good TV however noticed the other day it had a dead pixel so waiting for JL to send an engineer to inspect it.

I was torn by this and the Samsung h6400 (55 inch) but was put off by the wall mount options on the Sony. I got the Samsung for £680 (no 5 years warranty) & very pleased with it.

TBH this is a mid-range. You get what you pay for. For TV's in this bracket, this one is up there from what I've seen, heard and read. I don't own one BTW

there is a tv guide for satelite as I had one,

Does the Optical out output as 5.1? I'm thinking of getting a Sonos playbar too

its gone up to £999!
Didn't buy it as we were hoping it will go down further - gutted
