Not big enough????

From reviews it looks as though the W829 is a better buy, for a similar price.

was £1599 when it came out last year

Great price but does suffer from very poor black level and quite severe backlight consistency
It has LG ips panel (like many Sony TV,s) but seems perform worse than in LG tv,s

Don't rely on the reviews that are way out of date on pre- firmware updated TV... this is one heck of a brilliant Full HD TV and I should know as I've had it a for a year and have no intention of going to 4K until it's mainstream broadcasting... Sony made a mistake launching this TV for the World Cup last year without optimising it, now it is so grab this hidden gem whilst you can, it's a SERIOUSLY HOT deal!

I prefer Andy The Wedgehog

Amazing price shame I'm in Newcastle

good price but reviews suggest w8 is better in terms of picture quality

I have the w9 downstairs and the w8 mounted on the wall upstairs. The picture is far superior on the w9.

Strangely, the w8 seems to have better sound.

This is a great deal.

so cheap my w855 cost 1k

Nice price, voted hot!

I saw this set in Comet Ipswich. The sound was really good. For some reason the Sony rep was comparing his baby only with static images against a LG and a panny. Never did get to see it with live content. I recollect it was a good 100 quid more expensive though than this price. even so, its a long way to drive. voted hot. Good find.

Really like to know from a W9 and W8 owner. which one has better viewing angle?
I like my W8 but would much prefer an IPS panel.

Can't be, which review?
This was top of the range, an IPS screen with Triluminos technology.

Comet? What year was that?

Last year there was a deal from the Sony refurb store for either the 905 of the 955 for the same price. Ultimately I chose the w905 based on what I saw, but the 829 is a better buy over the 955 for various reasons including poor blacks, bad sound and uneven backlighting.

Ignore this tv get a 829...

lol

Bought my KDL55W905A for £2400 when it first came out.... yikes. If this is better, then this has to be a bargain. I love my TV, although it is a bit slow.... pic quality makes up for it.

just bought a diff 55 but this is nice!!

?

I just got the KDL60W855 i have to say it does suffer from poor black level, (quite a dark picture)
Paid 950 from AO.com
But VERY pleased with the tv

I have this exact model and I cannot fault it in any way. I did however pay over £2k for it about 18 months ago when it came out. Lesson learned. HOT

Can't believe I said "Comet"! I probably meant Currys. Shows my age, sigh. I still keep driving past an empty Comet store in Ipswich, its right beside a b&q. I wonder if it'll be closed too soon as staff often out number customers.

I'm sure it's not as bad as they say.

In terms of gaming ( if it's what your after) get the w8, as its response time is far better

i would not drop that amount of money on a any tv that is not 4k
currently have a 50" Panny Plasma PZ81 - I would like to go to a 60" or 65", but cant justify the price yet.

The fact that I have never hear of this store tells me I don't live near one, sadly.

I hate sony ok tv but I would go for the Lg 55lb700

Possible to price compare at John Lewis? They seem to be trading on the same basis.

You'd only be disappointed in this after your Panny Plasma anyway.....

I was thinking about buying this tv for £799 from Currys but yesterday bought a LG 55lb650v for £560 from AO.com, now I know the sony is probably a better tv but can anyone tell me if I have dropped a major clanger and should of paid the extra £240 and bought the sony..Any useful comments would really be appreciated while I still have time to cancel the LG. Cheers
