Seems like a reasonable price for a budget-level Sony Handycam (one step up from the basic CX240 model). All the specifications you would expect, 1080p, 30x optical zoom, optical stabilisation, etc.

Has wifi/NFC feature, and a USB connector which stows away neatly in the handle/grip. The few reviews that are around seem to rate it reasonably well.

There's a further 3% off with quidco (or 4% if you pay with Paypal), which might make up for the £3.95 delivery charge if you're not collecting from a store.

Looks like the cheapest on the net, £215.00 RRP, and around £200 from various places after a quick Google.

Just another quick point, this camera doesn't come with an external mic input ... not many do at this price point. The only one I found around this price point was the Toshiba Camelio X400, but I'm assuming the optics, quality on the Sony will be better (though this is just based on playing around with both in-store).

Would be delighted to hear from anyone with other good suggestions for a camcorder with external mic input at or below the £150 mark. Otherwise, will probably just go for this.

Okay, just a few quick additonal points ... the Sony takes MicroSD cards rather than the standard size, and I finally found a review online that wasn't just a list of specifications lifted from the Sony site.

HD Camcorders Review: Sony CX330 (seems like a fairly positive review, mostly focusing on the wifi/NFC aspect thought)

I have the CX320 with I presume is a step down, however I do have a mic jack in though and it takes standard sive SD cards. I got mine for £120 a few months ago on sale in Currys. I got it as we had our firs born due and for what it is I am very impressed. Its very easy to use, focuss well and the onboard mic is decent. As with alot of these camcorders the HD quality suffers in low light due to noise but outside and indoors during the day or with a normal bit of artifical light the picture qaulity is great and looks well on big TV would recommend to anyone in the market for a camcorder.

I'm pretty confused by the model numbering convention on the Sony models - I'm assuming in the UK that the CX330 and CX240 are the current models, but wouldn't swear to that.

The CX320 you have sounds excellent (for me), especially with the mic input. I was looking at the CX160 which had similar specs (presumably the model down) which had the mic input too. Unfortunately, it's pretty hard to find now after being discontinued. The £120 you got the CX320 for definitely seems like a bargain!

I've had a quick look on eBay and seen one going for £115 ... now trying to make a decision. I prefer the physical joystick interface on the CX330 and the option to attach filters/macro lenses (not too fussed about wifi), but the mic input on the CX320 would be sweet.

Sigh, choices, choices ...

Cheapest on the net at the moment, looks like it's been on sale at £179.99 in the past, but around £200.00 after a quick Google (RRP £215.00)

The touchscreen I will say isn't the most responsive but does the job, its certainly not unusable or a hassle. I would certainly recommend it, for £115 you would definitely get your money back. I think mine was the last one in a Currys store, not the display model though.

Seems a good price, considering £10 giftcard which is ending today with Amex and TCB will in the end only cost about £125 not bad at all.

Missed out on buying a CX320 for £115, next cheapest was over £180, so decided to buy this, as I needed it for a recording project and couldn't wait for something cheaper to come along.

It's a nice model - footage from it is excellent for my purposes. Surprisingly light and a reasonable number of options for an amateur like me - still not convinced that I'll use the wifi, but the USB embedded in the strap is an excellent idea.

Happy enough with the purchase ... until someone here finds something way cheaper (at which point I'll go cry in a corner).
