Manufacturer's Description:
Why Sony? Because Sony keeps raising the standard of excellence in digital photography, introducing more high-quality features at affordable cost--and enhancing creative possibilities as well as expanding technology horizons. For superior value, the compact Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W70 provides 7.2-megapixel resolution for big prints and photo cropping, large 2.5-inch LCD screen, advanced optics and the appeal of traditional rangefinder shooting--so photo enthusiasts will have a camera that's equally adept at saving their memories and capturing their vision.

7.2-Megapixel Super HAD CCD
With higher megapixel resolution, you'll have more detail for editing and cropping your images and making large prints. Sony's advanced Super HAD (Hole Accumulated Diode) CCD design allows more light to pass to each pixel, increasing sensitivity and reducing noise.

Extra-Large 2.5-Inch LCD Screen
The DSC-W70 has an extra-large 2.5-inch LCD screen for setting up and viewing images--with a one-touch "Play" button that makes it quick and easy to view your photos.

Function Guide Text/Icon Display
An on-screen Function Guide text/icon display makes it easy to learn the camera functions that give you greater creative freedom to adjust colour mode (including "Natural" for subtle colours and "Vivid" for more intense colours), sensitivity, brightness, and image size.

High Sensitivity Mode
A new High Sensitivity Mode (ISO 1000) lets you shoot without flash for more natural results in low-light conditions and shoot at higher shutter speed to minimize blur from unsteady hands or fast-moving subjects--and Sony's original Clear RAW NR (Noise Reduction) image processing technology helps suppress the colour noise that can accompany high-sensitivity shooting.

Carl Zeiss 3x Optical/2x Digital Zoom
3x optical zoom helps the DSC-W70 bring distant subjects closer and lets you frame shots for better composition; Sony's precision 2x digital zoom provides an additional 2x magnification to enlarge details without jagged edges.

Stamina Battery Power
A powerful Lithium Ion rechargeable battery allows the DSC-W70 to capture up to 2902 images--and the compact BC-CSG battery charger is also supplied for battery recharging on the go.

14x Smart Zoom Feature
Sony's Smart Zoom feature intelligently "crops into" the central portion of interest in your photo--avoiding the image degradation of other digital zooms. Depending on picture size, you can extend 3x optical zoom to 4.1x (3 MP), 5.2x (2 MP), or 14x (VGA).

High-Capacity 58 MB Internal Memory
With built-in 58 MB internal memory, the DSC-W70 allows you to capture images without a flash memory card--then transfer your images to optional Memory Stick Duo media, upload to your computer or make prints on your digital printer.

Memory Stick Duo Media
The DSC-W70 has a built-in slot for optional Memory Stick Duo or higher-capacity Memory Stick PRO Duo media--the ultra-compact media for shooting, storing and sharing your photo images. MPEG Movie VX Fine Mode
The DSC-W70 can capture VGA (640 x 480) audio-video clips at high frame rate (up to 30 frames per second), with length limited only by the capacity of your media.

Reviews

Hi guys, does any1 have this.. Im looking for a digi cam and would be interested in some personal reviews....

Thanks rayman, I've just ordered one!

Great camera Ray...always gets a good review from what I read...just wish I had £150 going spare!

I bought the W50 a while ago as an ugrade to the W5. (a lot thicker but a great image). Was really disappointed. The camera suffers terribly from blur. Its almost impossible to hold still and get an image that doesnt get camera shake.
My family all had a go, and some mates. They ALL came back with pictures that were terrible. And im 26, so not somebody who is just useless.
I would advise trying this in a store before you order.
I have read of others with this problem on forums... all the way up to the W100. Google for it.

Ended up going back to a W7 for £140 on clearance from Argos Not so petite , but guaranteed a much clearer picture.

Heres the link for the ]ARGOS one..:) AGAIN....I think someone changed my link to a more expensive one.....

I'm sorry you've lost me..... Back to MSe for me.... far friendlier.... I think you should get your head from up your your backside and realise not everyone is in it for a gain... MSE often post things on the forum pages linked to hotukdeals and thats how I found your site.. And probably most of your members if only they would admit it... I do find your site very usefull and often the savings are posted earlier than MSE but I find that comment "is it" almost accusing and very rude to a relative new member of your forum board and a regular member of the MSE board...:x :x :x :-(   I only put in a link to offer of the day.... no gain to me..... just your members..

I think you've taken Admin's comment the wrong way. The website you posted contained affiliate links from a third party site and Admin was just pointing out why they aren't allowed, but we are here to find the best deals...

I'm sorry for the comments but I would never do anything like that for personal gain... I'm just the same as 99% of the people on here... After a good deal... I would not know an affiliate from a third party site if it hit me in the face..... I'll go and hide under my stone....

MSE has the same rules edna_clouds. I don't think you will find any difference between the rules here or there. That's fine if you didn't realise what you posted but on our side if we have a brand new member that all of a sudden posts referral links or a site focussed on referral links we are very cautious. I think you can understand what we mean.

There seems to be 2 threads going for this camera Ray....the other is for Jessops.

Anyone thinking of buying should look at the recent comments on the other thread which seem to refute that there is a problem with blurred images.
