  • 20.1 megapixels
  • Sensor type: 1/2.3" / 6.17 x 4.55 mm CCD sensor
  • Optical zoom: 35 x
  • 3" / 76.2 mm LCD screen
  • Get closer to the detail with the Sony Cyber-shotDSCH300B Bridge Camera.

    Image sensor

A large 20.1 megapixel Super HAD CCD image sensor captures the true detail of every shot. The large resolution combines with the sensor to grab more light, rendering moments in rich and colourful shots that can be reproduced as A4 prints.

    Optical zoom

With a powerful 35x optical zoom, the H300 bridge camera ensures no shot will ever be out of reach. You can get closer to the action with ease and capture beautifully crisp shots across the entire focal range.

Optical SteadyShot image stabilisation keeps the image stable and fully focused. This technology compensates for hand movements that could cause blurring and distortion. The image stabiliser helps achieve brilliantly sharp results even in challenging low light environments.

    HD movies

Shoot high quality HD movies (720p) with minimal noise distortion even in darker environments. Start capturing high definition videos with just a touch of the dedicated record button.

Record movies in MP4 format and at 30 frames per second, ideal for fast editing.

As someone that has been looking at similar recently, very different purposes. I just got a P20 Pro but still want something with a good zoom for my trip to the azores just in case I can't get close up to something. I was eying up the B700 or the P900 but the price is considerably more than this!

No viewfinder - what's the point?

No viewfinder - what's the point?

ah i remember the days you used to whinge about AA batteries too
the point is probably to keep costs down, have taken loads of my photos without a viewfinder - its a luxury rather than a necessity for many

Oh no, it's AA powered too! . What is the point: too big to go in your pocket but no viewfinder (and now AA batteries too!). The only thing going for it is it's cheap, but that doesn't make it good value.

You are right - all phones have a viewfinder which is why people take so many pictures with them .........

hah - didn't actually realise that this one was AA powered
cheap alone doesn't make good value true - but cheap and decent photos still would - even with no evf and AAs
ofc i have no idea if can take any decent ones...
(edit thought was hx300 rather than h300...)

Disagree. Viewfinder is essential in bright sunlight and/or fast-moving subjects. Take this to an airshow for example and you'd be lucky to get anything except the sky!'\ I've got the HX version of this and use the EVF more than the screen.

you disagree thats fine - others disagree with you so everybodys happy!
if you can get an evf great! but if you have a limited budget you cant always get one - hx300 is way more than this
Just get the the binocular app for iphone, and this will beat the optical zoom on this camera.

I'm not suggesting that you would buy the HX over this, I'm fully aware of the difference in price - I'm sure you understood the point I was making. A camera with a with a x35 optical zoom and no EVF will largely be a waste of £139. Canon, Sony etc make these devices for buyers who don't understand their limitations until it's too late.

sure i understand the point - you wouldn't buy the camera
essential though is wrong - for others its up to them
to a certain extent it depends on the screen quality as well - took many pictures yesterday at max zoom in full sun and not many using the evf
'luckily' enough its not usually as bright as that either
(higher spec camera and less zoom but screen usable)
Been tempted over years to buy a Sony rx100 but hard pressed to get some comparisons to shots for myself

You've missed the point, the comment was in reply to someone saying they have a P20 phone but need a zoom camera... the next suggestion was 'get a tripod' - thus, what good is a tripod for a phone that has no zoom. Then some other wheeze replied it would help keep toast warm (a comment just as unhelpful as 'get a tripod', but I'd say it again)

so why would you ask in this thread about H300?
what will an rx100 give you?

I think what I'd want is a camera like sony rx100 300-500£ budget and be able to test it for a few days, might decide its not for me, but might not,

I don't own flagships I always stay a year behind because I don't like wrapping my phones in cotton wool, and like abusing them

Is it cheap though? The £60 saving is largely ficticious -- the price was put up to £199 for just 20 days before bringing it back down to £139. Usual Curry/PCW trick: "Was £199.00 (from 18/04/2018 to 08/05/2018)".
