Now reduced even further in price to £499, but works out at £349 after claiming £150 cashback from Sony (for purchases up to 31st December 2017) - 2% Quidco could mean a further £9.98 off too, making it just £339.02!

Also includes a free 2 year warranty (includes Sony 1 Year Extended Service Warranty), which is added to the basket with the camera, and currently you also get a free CEWE Photobook voucher worth £18.99 too.

I know there are two newer models available, but they are quite a bit more expensive and the the table on dpreview suggests that the main differences are in video and burst capabilities (and battery life doesn't seems to be as good on the newer models) - those features aren't important to me, so the RX100 III at this price seems like the best bet

Update: OOS at Jessops, but still available from Amazon and Park Cameras

No comment on the price. But I've had this camera for a couple of years and it's brilliant. The viewfinder is very handy for us old schoolers who like to frame a shot the traditional way.
I have the Mk2. A brilliant compact camera that takes DSLR quality images without the bulk
Widely regarded as the best compact p&s in its usual price bracket, fantastic price!
Thanks OP and if shop with quidco, there is a bonus offer of £2.50 for spending over £20 too (need to activate the offer first) first).
OOS
Ah that's a shame - There's currently 12 left in stock on Amazon at £499.00 here though.

But no cashback from Amazon I think
There was a problem with a cashback from Sony last time hotukdeals.com/dea…289
I've had this camera for nearly three years, one of the best purchases I've ever made. If you want a camera that takes DSLR quality images but not bothered about changing lenses and value something compact you can take anywhere this camera is perfect.
Assume it's expired as can only see it for £549 and £399 after cashback?

Except the G7x is not a compact is it?
There seems to be a few in stock here parkcameras.com/p/7…era at the same price and with the cashback

There's a link to the cashback terms on the Amazon product page though, which goes here:

out of curiosity, do this cameras have optical stabilisation, hdr mode, etc?
Just ordered it. Can someone recommend a good SD card for this camera please? It would be nice to get it during this deal time.

I've just purchased this card for it (code BOXINGDAY17 for 10% off, and 2% Quidco - it's microSD, but comes with the adaptor)

Good camera but I think "DSLR quality" is a bit misleading, it has a 1 inch sensor which is bigger than most compact camera but it's still a fair bit smaller than the APS-C sensors in most DSLRs so it's low-light performance will not be as good, for DSLR performance in a smaller camera you would need a camera with an APS-C sensor like one of the Fuji X-100 series or one of Sony/ Fujifilm/ Canon's mirrorless cameras, some good deals on Sony's A6000 ATM.

Comparison, notice major difference is in low-light ISO performance: dxomark.com/Cam…942

I have a Sony mirrorless camera as well with APS-C sensor and the results in low light are the same in low light when you use the 16-50mm kit lens as the lens is much better on the RX100 MkIII which roughly cancels out the sensor advantage. Which is why I specifically referred to not changing lenses, as a lot of people buy DSLR but just use kit lens and this camera would actually be better for them. A fast prime lens on DSLR is much better of course.

You are possibly thinking of gx7
G7x is near identical in size to rx100
Did anyone else order from Jessops and have problems? I've just cancelled my order through live chat, as when I asked why my camera that was in stock for delivery was now "On Back-Order" they said:

"I can see that we are chasing this one up with the stores that have stock of the camera for you. Unfortunately all of the stores that we've contacted only have the camera as a display model so it's proving difficult to find one that we are able to send out. I do apologise for the delay with this."

I've now instead ordered with the case and grip from John Lewis for £50 more - I think it's probably actually a better deal given how expensive that case is on its own normally! (Jessops also have the three items at the same price, but I no longer wish to give them my money!)
