Great camera. Fantastic price. Had mine for a while now and use it in between my X-T20.

Should be this price all the time now after how long it’s been out and how many times superseded

Sony sell 5 variants of the rx100 at different price points. I don't think they like retiring models.

I don't think the OP's comparison to the A6000 is fair. The A6000 sensor has 3 times the surface area of these and are capable of better photos especially in poor light. In good light the rx100 is great

Why cant they just reduce the price by £150 instead of having to do the £150 cash back malarky?

Jessops not the only UK retailer offering at this price with double cashback. But heat for posting. It's an excellent pocket camera for that price (Perfectly happy with my G9X Mkii though)

Agreed, surprised it's still this price when Canon and Panasonic model do more for less. Probably the max price I'd pay for it new

It bugs me that an old model is continued at the original price when tech is supposed to come down over time and every new one is so much dearer. Companies used to bring out a new model of something at a slightly raised price and reduced the old one. Sony don’t do this at all!

Its a temporary promotion, if they reduced the price by £150 and then put it back up it creates confusion.
It's not difficult to put in a claim with Sony from expereince.

Amazon Warehouse have it for £404 with the 20% discount; As New Condition (it's a gamble).
Claim the cashback and if they don't pay due to it already having been claimed you have until January 31st to return it.
If successful it has cost you £254 which is a steal.
Was going to go for the Mk1 but for £83 more this is well worth it.as it has some major upgrades.

Superb camera. Fantastic shots as leica lens is decent. An a6000 is only OK with standard kit lens and you would need to spend more and upgrade the lens to get the best from it.

It's a Zeiss lens not Leica. These RX100 range are fabulous in low light

It depends on how the Amazon receipt looks as that’s what you have to email to Sony.

I did this previously with Fuji cashback and it worked.

The receipt didn’t state it was used or from amazon warehouse deals.

Definitely a big improvement on the MK1 so making a wise decision. For me the flip screen was something I didn’t think I’d use that much but it allows you get into some low positions. Also the EVF is very good.

I wish I hadn’t seen this post! I have the Mk1 model but I’m wondering if this would be worth changing to?

Wife, “You don’t need another camera!!”
Me, “But this one ........”
Wife, “Just use one of the four you have in your drawer!”

Without a doubt it’s worth getting over the MK1. Flip screen, EVF, ND filter, WiFi etc

If your MK1 is boxed in great condition then you should be able to get around £200 on eBay.

For any Costco members they're doing them for around £509, if Sony are offering the cashback then I'd think it would still be eligible, (and of course you'd get Costco's 90 day satisfaction guarantee

Why does it create confusion to have something on sale for a limited period? I've made cash back claims from Panasonic canon and Sony. Panasonic was the best by far but I did get the Sony cash back... Eventually

mikefrom821 h, 30 m ago

One of the two Amazon invoices for Warehouse deals states the condition and the other doesn't.
I've used the appropriate invoice to claim on a Sony camera before with no problems.
Took about 3 to 4 weeks for them to authorise it.

None currently there anyway.

Not the best choice of word then. Let's say that it's complex to handle changing the price that they sell to wholesalers/retailers multiple times over a period so I figure they'd rather keep that simple and deal with the discount directly with public. For accounting purposes that's probably easier!
Anyway, it only takes 5 to 10 minutes to make the claim and it doesn't bother me if they take 1 to 2 months to make the payment.

Yeah I suspect you are right..if they cut the cost price to the retailer by £150 then they cannot force them to pass that onto the customer, whereas this way the customer gets the discount. I'm probably being a bit harsh on the Sony cashback as it was back in 2015 and it was all by post which seemed to take ages. Like you say as long as it turns up thats all that matters. I am tempted by this!

It's all online now so they confirm receipt of claim via email first, then after they've processed it and payment is via bank transfer.

So do I buy this or the Sony a6000?

I have a olympus micro 4/3 and a sony DSLR and I've not used either since getting the rx100, it's small enough to take pretty much anywhere with you and as they say, the best camera is the one that you've got with you

Back in stock at Amazon Warehouse.

I’ve got an A5100. Would it be worth trading it in if I am going to stick with the standard lens but want a EVF?

I'm trying to claim for cashback but the application doesn't accept my pdf and jpg files but they say they accept.
Anyone have the same problem?

ok. I see I can send it by email too

or maybe not

OK, so I bought this with the £150 cashback from Jessops, but the deal has disappeared from everywhere on the web as if it never happened. Sony website now shows £75 cashback only. Anyone know how to make the claim at the original ammount?

Keep us posted, I can’t even get on to the website to claim the cash back today
Edited by: "houdini_7" 30th Nov

I tried in the morning to fill the claim form on the sony website and it worked
Got confirmation email too, so fingers crossed.

I've just got an email from sony that this model is not in cashback offer. Ffs!

The website is still showing £75 so £150 cashback has expired

Just received the following reply:

"Thank you for contacting Sony support.

With reference to your query regarding the cash back amount, please be advised that the cash back amount for the case xxxxxxxx is 75 GBP.

Please note that there was a double cash back offer for the products purchased from the 24th to the 29th of November, so any products that have been purchased before or after that time frame will receive the 75 GBP.

We thank you for your understanding and apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Should you have any further questions, please feel free to reply to this email.

Thank you for your enquiry.

Point 6b says :

6b. If you have purchased any of the following products from an authorised Sony dealer located in the UK, Republic of Ireland and Isle of Man between 24th November 2017 and 29 th November 2017 (inclusive) then you will be entitled to apply for the following enhanced Cashback and the remainder of these Terms and Conditions shall apply. Category Product Cashback Value (UK) Cashback Value (R.O.I) Compact Cameras RX100 RX100M3 HX90 HX90V £70 £150 £80 £80 € 80 € 170 € 90 € 90 Interchangeable Lens Cameras A6000 A6000L A6000Y A6000Z £100 £100 £100 £100 € 120 € 120 € 120 € 120

But I don't see as Amazon is an authorised Sony dealer any longer
I'll fight
