its around this price mark elsewhere

Bummer, I just paid £179 in Currys for this!

Does anyone know the dimensions of the unit? Can't find them anywhere - not even on the Sony homepage (!)

and now of course it's £139.95 but we're all in it together remember - still a good deal

It says that this is also an av receiver? I have been looking for home cinema seperates for a while now in a budget that I can afford! Does any one know if this would be suitable for hooking up to my ps3?

yea i would of thought so..either by optical out or using phono cables and setting your output audio on your ps3

also says 1-3months for shipping

With this speaker system, can you simply put a cable from the TV to it OR do you have to connect up all peripheral components (XBOX, blue ray player, etc).

Never had to set up a surround sound system before, so a bit of a newbie question.

I assume you can use the speakers when watching standard TV, not just the DVD player.

Does anyone know how many optical inputs there are as the tech spec on amazon is poor, as it states NO to almost everything on input/output but yet when you read reviews people mention you need an extra optical cable, so im very confused! x

Took me a while but finally found the manual online:
Link to Manual

Should answer all your question, but not mine:
All dimensions oft the speakers are in there but not of the main unit. It would be great if somebody can tell me the width of the unit.
Many thanks!

lol

no divx

According to manual only has 1 optical input, so thats no good, seeing as we want tv settop box, ps3, xbox. Shame! x

Looks like a very basic unit - from Amazon:

Please NOTE:- The system comes with NO cables (HDMI or OPTICAL) I recommend you purchase the optical and if you are attaching additional systems (PS3 Sky+ BT Vision etc) then you will need a 'splitter' as this Sony system has only one HDMI and Optical in/out ports. These aren't expensive or complicated to set up, but, remember you will need additional cables from the add-ons.

Cold for me as this is not available for 1-3 months for this price so deal IMO should be expired. I personally wouldn't buy from ASK who currently have stock @ £139. Surprised this made it as I checked this last night and there was no stock for 1-3 months.

I'm torn between this and the Samsung HT-C460!
dixons.co.uk/gbu…tml
They both have great reviews...
Plus the 1-3month wait on the Sony is pushing me towards the Samsung. What do I do? hehe

If I already have a Bravia TV is it best to pair them up? or not make any difference?

£129 at Sony Centre, bought 2 days ago..

Does this even have an Optical Port?

I have this.

It only has 1 input (optical) and so options are VERY limited.

Sound quality is however very good.

If your TV outputs received audio via it's optical port this may be ok. Some TVs do this, some do not.

i posted this deal just over a week ago

I really wish someone could make a wireless surround sound system with totally wire free front and rear left and right speakers. They don't have to be big powerhouses, just small low wattage ones. Stick a D cell or 9v battery in them. The centre speaker can be hard wired as it would be close to tv abd surround etc anyway. Why has nobody done this? I hate having so many wires.

This does seem like a good deal though I just wish it didn't have any wires.

Because the battery probably wouldn't last much longer than a day. Would anyone really want to replace their speaker batteries that often?
