Very rare you see this camera below £530 to £540 so £499 is a "bargain" for this camera.

Because your average armchair numpty doesn't understand that a larger sensor is actually worth paying for in a compact. They think their phone gives great pictures because it's got a lot of megapixels!

They don't mind voting hot on a DSLR because that's a "proper professional" camera. If they actually have a separate compact camera it's a £150 Panasonic Lumix and they can't understand why you might want to pay more for a compact camera! And it doesn't have a 5000x zoom, so it can't be any good, can it?

Reckon it's worth going for the mark iv to use as a main camera for video as well since its 4k?

Although I'm a beginner with cameras.

If you want video then yes, the mark IV is worth the upgrade, but if you are mainly doing video I'd look at a dedicated camcorder instead. Video on compact cameras isn't usually all that great. The audio quality is usually crap, and the shape of the camera is great for holding still for one shot, but not so good for long bursts of video. Try holding one still for a few minutes in a camera shop and you will see what I mean.

this seems normal price now looking at Amazon, Jessops and Currys, but with John Lewis you have a real store to use and 2 yr guarantee which is good.

Love my rx100 iv

I have the RX100 III and it's a great camera. I use it more than my DSLR.

Good price. Worth the extra over M2 due to wider zoomed in aperture, viewfinder, 180 degree screen tilt, ND filter, and improved video.

A used M4 for a bit extra may be worthwhile if high frame rate video, 4K, and very high shutter speeds are of interest.
