Posted on the 26th Dec. I know, I bought one.

Good find... deal ended. :-(

Bought one, thanks so much for posting!

Bought one Friday, sending it back

The camera is great in every way except for image quality. The sensor is shocking

Shame as really wanted it to be good

That's the problem with superzooms, they have to use tiny sensors to achieve such insane zoom ranges while still being portable.

Yeah I appreciate that but was hoping that without cropping the pic quality would be acceptable but for me it wasn't

I use an a6000 normally so the difference is just too huge for me personally. I knew sony hadn't worked out how to defy the laws of physics yet but was hoping for a compromise I could live with

Bridge cameras have their place, you can get decent quality pictures in good light if you don't push the zoom too much. If you do push the zoom to the max the quality will drop off but you will be getting a picture when nothing else anyway near the price will be able to get it.

At the end of the day it's personal preference but at this price for one of the better example of a bridge camera it's a very good deal.

Yeah that's the problem with owning SLR-sized sensors, once you're used to them it's difficult to be happy with the results from more basic cameras! I bought a Fuji X20 as a pocket cam for when I couldn't/didn't want to carry my DSLR but even that camera's 2/3" sensor and fast lens produced disappointing picture quality (plus it didn't actually fit in my pocket).
