Dont buy a Hi8 camcorder. Well old. You want at least DV tapes.

Voted cold

Hi8 was a brilliant system i have hi8 tapes of the kids that must be over 10 years old there just as good as the day i filmed them. And the quality was excellent. As a first camcorder thats an excellent price. If you want a cheap camcorder and can find one its a bargain.

I don't understand your logic here.

If you prefer not to buy Hi8 format, that's fair enough.

But for those people who would buy Hi8 format this is still a good deal, I think you should consider that before voting cold.

well for £30 more you can get a better camcorder. But if you want cheap then I guess you buy old tech

"Weight 780g."

It's not so much Hi-8 as Hi-Weight; that's very heavy for a camcorder.

I'd consider the Sony MiniDV camcorder that was recently posted unless you've already bought into this format.

The HC-23 is £15 more at Argos and alot lot lot better.

£20 actually.

£25 as it can only be home delivered :whistling:

I bought a Handycam DV recently for £243, then I picked up my old Hi8 it's double the weight and just feels like a brick now.

don't forget that this only has 'Analogue AV out'.

This means no firewire which means in turn that if you wanted to hook it up to your computer you'd need a video capture card or at least a TV card with AV inputs.
I can honestly say that I can see no good reason to buy this camera unless you absolutely must use Hi8. Not only is this several steps backward in terms of storage formats, it doesn't seem to have the 'carl zeiss lens' that most of the DV versions have.
