good price, shame its on vodaphone

Cracking phone and shouldn't be a problem un-locking.

Smashing little handset. Good camera too.

Why aren't they called 'Prepaynia' !!!!!!!

Good price extra good that its on Vodafone... as it means you can use it without any bother on an Asda PAYG sim card for very cheap payg, even if it is locked!

you can unlock these for free anyway cant you?

Same at Play, dont know what the cashback is like at either thou?

No idea. Earlier SE models weren't usually do-able for free, but were cheap enough to have done, don't know about current models.
Last one I needed unlocking I just used a "sim-shim" from Dealextreme!

You can't unlock the C510 for free, it doesn't work with the free A2 unlock method

sim-shim or any other sim attachement is not good, could get your SIM banned from the network as it messes with your IMEI

What do you mean "messes with yourIMEI?"

I have found a site; Mrunlock.com, who claim to able to unlock this phone for £9.95.
Anyone know of any reason not to use this firm?

Sounds like a good deal to me.

Sorry, I meant IMSI number

The SIM attachment spoofs the IMSI number and authentication key supplied by the SIM card to the network, allowing network-locked phones to be used on mobile networks for which they were not originally designed or permitted. The fake IMSI number then gets transmitted to the network, which they don't like.

Good deal but Play.com also have this phone for the same price and offer a 5% RAC discount.

hotukdeals.com/ite…c-/

If you're on another network you can get this phone unlocked for free by putting a friend's Vodafone sim card inside and requesting an unlock code from Vodafone.

or £69.99 less quidco if you're a new customer at Additions Direct (like me)

Beware if you take photos on poor light. This camera has an LED flash and not a Xenon flash as used in my last Nokia handset. The nokia was fantastic in dark conditions and managed to illuminate completely dark rooms....the C510 is pathetic. I'm having to ditch it and buy another camera.

This was posted on here recently. not sure who and I haven't used it yet. Free unlocking programme. ]here

Which code did you use for this? As the phone is currently £99.99 through Additions and the best discount code i can use is: XX048 - 15% discount.

Though you can only use that Additions voucher once and for the sake of £6 (this phone works out as £76 at Play.com using 5% RAC code) you might consider it more worthwhile spending that £30 Additions voucher on something else.

And how would they know? I presume it emulates the IMSI number and sends it to the phone which expects a certain IMSI from the SIM rather than the one for the company that provides the SIM - the rest of the data is real (IMEI & phone number) so for all it knows, the phone IS unlocked. OK if they examined the phone they would tell, but as far as I can find, it isn't illegal here anyway, (it might well be if it altered the IMEI) and seeing mine has been in use for many, many months, they clearly either haven't noticed, or aren't bothered!

The ideal fix for an old phone I use on a secondary network for some calls (which are cheaper even than Asda mobile) where unlocking would cost as much as the phone is worth and it only gets left int he car anyway

Absolutely AWFUL phone with terrible usability and functionality. Camera quality is also terrible compared to other Sony Ericson phones. No joystick, so navigating web pages is also a pain.

I got one free with my 3 contract and ended up going back to my K800i.

I know its a different phone, only linked the page cos it was where i found the code.

Really good phone and it takes exaclly 40 sec to unlocked it and then extra 3 - 5 min to debrand it.
I have bought this phone from play for the same money and I am really happy.

Personally I've been through almost all the SE phones, but I want to get this because of the form factor and the weight. balanced with a camera with auto-focus (otherwise i'd go for w890i)
