**WARNING**

This deal only applys to NEW customers only, read on for details:

Right, well GREAT UNIVERSAL offer a 20% off your FIRST order (this is how the deal works out so cheap) on top of this they also do a cashback scheme. There cash back scheme is they give you £1 for every £10 you spend, and the cash back can be paid directly off your account.

They have this phone listed at £279 delivered, but after doing the maths for a FIRST TIME CUSTOMER. £279 - 20% = £223.20

THEN the cashback should be £22 (£1 for every £10 you spend) you will have the option of paying this cash back, off of your account.

SO; £223 - £22 = £201 they give free delivery when you order ONLINE so basically, £201 for this great phone BRAND NEW!!!!

They offer the phone in 20 weekly payments INTEREST FREE, or 40 weekly payments INTEREST FREE. Choose either that you wish as you wont be paying any more or less for the phone.

ALSO when your filling out your info etc, when it has the option to enter a gift code, enter '20' for the 20% off

ON TOP OF THAT Sony Ericsson are required (and do) under new European Union LAW to provide 2 years warrenty on this phone (i have read around on the web and this seems to be correct)

also if quidco offer anything then you get that as well!

Good idea simbob! Quidco do 8% cashback for this merchant, which would be £17 (on £223), but there is the chance they may not honour this, as you are using the 20% discount code at the same time.

Great phone and nice find for the first time customer Thanks simbob!

its 3 week delivery tho

u can get next day delivery for about £2.95

Welcome to HotUKDeals solidsingh!!!

Good find simbob.

Thanks for this - just ordered one as a new customer.

My Receipt does not mention the 20% off and shows a grand total of £279.00 (I did enter the"20" code)

Will the 20% off show on my account - or has the order gone wrong?

Hello Guys,

I am a bit confused by this - why is it such a good deal?

Its quite sexy saying that you can do this offer using this discount plus that discount then go via Quidco and maybe get a further discount to come up with a much lower figure but sometimes it seems overcomplicated.

The way I read it is that you get a brand new K800i for £201 on an 02 PAYG deal. In addition you will probably spend in excess of £10 per month (PAYG) to give you about 40-50 minutes per month OR 84 texts per month OR a combination of both. This will cost you an average of at least £26.75 per month.

I've just been to the 02 site where you can get a brand new K800i phone, NEXT DAY, on a £25 per month tariff that gives you 100 minutes PLUS 500 texts per month. No 3 week delivery or 'new customer' requirements.

I am sure that there are better deals, probably with cashback elsewhere if you wanted to look further afield.

What am I missing?

NP, the 20% doesnt come into effect until they bill you, ie when they come to charge you that is when your discount will apply.

i emailed greatuniversal and asked them if the discount still applyed even if you were to simply pay outright for the phone, they said it would,

but if you were doing it like that, id probably suggest ringing them up and doing it over the phone.

because some people dont want to be stuck in bills etc, they want to pay for a product, and only be able to spend what ever ammount they put on,

and as for 02, with there sim cards when you top up by £10 a month, you get 300 free texts, and your £10 to do as you wish with it (sending these 300 free texts wont take any money off of your ballance)

Surely paying over £5 PER WEEK for 40 weeks to Great Universal is a regular commitment ("stuck in bills") and topping up by £10 per month to get 300 free texts is a regular commitment.

Original Poster Banned

yeah, but you dont have to to the weekly payments.

So you would rather pay £201 up front rather then spread the payment INTEREST FREE over 40 weeks. Hmmm.

it was a suggestion, your contradicting your initial post, progressively saying its not a good deal, try looking about for this phone oon pay as you go in the shops, if you find cheaper then £201 then fair enough, if not then be quiet,

the total cost of the contract you are on about is £450...........

Hello simbob,

I am sorry if I am irritating you but I stand by my first post.

Your initial suggestion for reducing the price from £279 to £201 is excellent and is a good reduction. I am saying that perhaps there is a better way of achieving the same goal by a different direction, i.e. ordering online on a monthly contract.

The contract I quoted is still available from O2 at £25 per month = £300 total cost (not £450 as you say). For that you get a brand new K800i delivered next day with 100 minutes x-network plus 500 texts per month which on the face of it seems more cost effective then buying it outright for an excellent £201 then topping up by £10 per month (to get the free 300 texts you mentioned) which comes to £321.

I can understand people wanting PAYG where they are under 18 and cannot sign a contract or have a bad credit record so they cannot get a contract or cannot trust themselves on a contract or only use a mobile phone very occasionally so will top up every few months (so £201 on a new phone is a bit of a waste). Apart from these circumstances I wondered why it was beneficial to go down your route.

You can get the K800 free from O2 online on a 19 pound a month contract bringing the total to just 228 pounds, which also includes 50 peak minutes a month and 200 texts.

However I can appreciate people just want to buy the phone outright, the only part which puts me off the payg deal is the cashback you need to rely on - I have to admit I usually end up not cancelling my contract in time so I pay a little more than I should so the contract isn't always quite the bargain for me.

As you may have guessed I'm quite tempted by this phone, I have three contracts already so I'm not keen on firing up another - although it works out better, at least with the payg one the money would be gone now and I wouldn't need to worry about it any more!

i understand what your saying, anyways, me personally

i am on vodafone contract, got a k750i at present, my contract expires in february, but im buying on of these phones soon, getting it unlocked and just putting in my contract sim card, then giving my k750i to my gril friend.

im a sucker for new products lol. plus from what ive seen etc, this seems to be a very good phone, screen quality wise, looks wise and photo quality wise IMO.

Whichever way you want to buy it, it seems like a cracking phone. I've got the W800i and was looking to upgrade to the W810i in the next couple of weeks.

I am very tempted by the K800i because of the superior camera and I think e2save do it free and give you a memory card to go with it.

And I've just noticed that you can get a further £35 through Quidco - £193 total cost for a year - wow!!

I'd recommend looking at both phones in the flesh - the K800 has a very nice camera, 3G support plus a high resolution screen but it's also noticeably bigger than the W810 and it only supports the new micro memory stick format rather than the more desirable memory stick duo pro the W810 supports. While the K800 doesn't come with a memory card (well most anyway) the W810 has a 512MB card out of the box.

I'm leaning more towards the K800, I'm using an SPV C600 as my main phone and an XDA Mini S as my secondary phone - the Mini S works well as a secondary phone as I like the features but it's not reliable enough for a main phone. I'm starting to find the same with the C600, it keeps cocking up syncing so I keep finding myself going to find a contact and it's no longer there. The alarm clock (an essential mobile feature) is rubbish for its functionality and unreliable - it refused to snooze on the alarm and when I set it to a later time it didn't go off at all. So I want to get an SE phone again for my main phone (still have a P900 I use regularly), since there's no SE smartphones suitable the W810/K800 seem a good choice.

I didn't get a memory card with my K800i from e2save. Will be checking their website again, but I don't remember mention of additional memory.

Ooops, it was phones4u.co.uk that include a 512 mb memory card with the K800i. :-)

Yowch! I paid about £90 for an Orange-locked K800i over two years ago (EDIT: and it fell further to about £60 before it disappeared from the market).

And if you insist upon unlocked, new phones, mphone have the K770i (looks like an identical spec) for £107.27 - ]http//ww…tml

Weird. I didn't notice the dates; I must have been browsing deals back from 'Last' or something. My apologies - no spamming intended.
