Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini Pro Black PAYG (unlocked) at mobiles.co.uk £144.90

Found 30th Aug 2011
The new Xperia Mini Pro. Android Gingerbread, and slide out qwerty keyboard. On Three it's £129.95 + mandatory £15 top up. I'm not sure if it's unlocked (will update tonight when I check it), but in any case Three charge £15 to unlock.

Only in black.

£6 quidco.

EDIT: Checked and was able to make a call with my T-Mobile sim. The £15 top up comes as the 300 minutes/3000 texts/unlimited data - but only lasts for one month.

Mobiles.co.uk is part of carphone warehouse - all of their phones are unlocked - I have bought from mobiles.co.uk before and can confirm this.

That seems a bit too cheap to be honest, most places are selling the mini for £150 and the mini pro for £200 (search HUKD for previous thread)

Very good price if it's genuine!

Three PAYG phones are often locked, even from CPW.

HOT!!! Its cheaper than the Xperia Mini!

its unlocked on all networks, just spoke to an advisor

none in stock though

Can this be rooted?

Original Poster

Not sure if it can be rooted (this is for my daughter, so will be left with stock ROM), but best source of information seems to be: forum.xda-developers.com/for…239

It was in stock when I ordered on the weekend. Was delivered today, daughter says it's definitely not an X10. According to the website it is in stock.

I didn't put a referral link on there - my url was "http://www.mobiles.co.uk/sony-ericsson-xperia-mini-pro-black-pay-as-you-go.html"

And somebody said in another forum that the add-ons were just for contract phones, not payg. But I'll be keeping an eye out.

mobiles.co.uk is part of Carphone warehouse which don't lock the phones to network (same thing for TalkMobile - also part of the same group)

Hi!
Can anyone, who has bought the Pay As You Go- Sony Xperia mini pro phone from mobiles.co.uk, confirm if they have any problems with strange crackle sounds when recording video?
The reason I mention this is that there have been complaints about this annoying electrostatic noise when recording video from the phone, and Phones 4U.co.uk have stopped selling this phone until these problems have been sorted out by Sony. See Sony forum: talk.sonyericsson.com/com…de0

Also, here are some videos of the noise problem: youtube.com/wat…PxU

youtube.com/wat…yQU

Also, Just some questions: how good is the battery on this phone; How good is the call quality+ loudspeaker? Is ringtones loud enough that it can be herd in a noisy crowd? Is this phone sim free even though you buy a 3sim card, and how much does the insurance cost (hidden charges) when buying from Mobiles.co.uk ? Thanks in advance for your help! Cheers!

I've just phoned them and they say that the Three phone...they can't guarantee that it is unlocked. They can guarantee that the phones for the other networks are unlocked.

Therefore the price is £149.90 + £10 topup.

I was going to get this phone - it superficially appears to be such a good deal - but those noises have put me off buying it for the time being. Hopefully there will be a fix forthcoming but it doesn't seem to be a software issue as initially suspected, which is rather worrying especially if buying a phone by mail order (and then having to return the phone for repair).

Personally I don't mind it being black though the white case does look nicer as well as not showing fingerprints as much as the black model.

Not a problem just wondering! It just said that the link I'd clicked on (the buy phone one) was a referal link and the referer would be getting a £25 cheque. Shame you're not it's a good deal!

Paul.

Only if you buy the Three phone....for which there is no guarantee it is unlocked. You have left the title generic.....and that all phones are unlocked....and I've rung them and they have said "we guarantee all the phones are unlocked except the Three network ones" You should amend the title to read Three phone only at £129.90....else the cheapest option is £149.90.

the old one was meant to have very poor battery life but they have improved this one, still not brilliant but on a par with most android phones i believe so the reviews say.
