The mini isn't worth the box it comes in.
The xperia mini pro (this phone with a keyboard) is 190 @ panamoz and why isnt this phone worth the box it comes in? Note:this phone has just been released - not to be confused with the x10 mini
1ghz, 512mb, & 480x320 3" screen.
nothing special really, although the 720p vid recording will probably appeal to some.
better than the samsung galaxy ace? i was thinking of getting that but then i saw this..

better than the samsung galaxy ace?

If you can live with the small screen (3") this has a far better processor (Qualcomm 8255) same as the Desire HD, Xperia Arc, Xperia Play. Supports Flash and far better for games.

1ghz second gen and Adreno 205 on 480x320 would make this quite a power house of a phone.
Would be able to play flash websites. quite amazing for £160 when you looks at the specs.
Sony have really improved there phones and it shows. the osf and its replacement look dated now.
And the phone is unlocked too.
Is it locked to orange?
Was gonna post this but this deal isn't as hot after the Acer Liquid Metal deal.

Is it locked to orange?

I'd also like to know this... Pleeeeease!
no its unlocked nearly all carphone phones are unlocked with the exception of iphones.
but only nobs have iphones anyway.
Seemingly good price for the specs; heat added.

Most reviews seem pretty posititve too, as long as you are specifically looking for a smaller smartphone.

Negated by the yearly charge. Ahahahah. Topcashback on the other hand - £5.05

Oh yes the phone, I would never touch a Sony Ericsson ever again. All mine ever used to do was crash (w910i) until I hacked it to debrand it - now it works perfectly but the complaints I sent to CS were useless to me. So byebye SE for good

Really tempted by this phone. Packs in a lot of tech for a shade over 150 quid.

I know nothing about phones but at first glance this seems to be just as good spec if not higher...so why not as hot? I am not being facetious, I really want to know.

It's 1ghz

I am just comparing it with the Galaxy Ace, it seems no flash support on that, I want flash...this Sony has it right?

I like the look of this, but the battrey life on the galaxy seems alot better?
I have this phone and its really good except for the auto adjusting screen brightness for which there's no option to turn off and it makes the screen flicker sometimes.
and i dont think it has swype, looked in all the menus for it.
Great phone for the price if you don't mind a 3" screen...nearly bought one myself...but there's something you need to be aware of. This phone has a locked boot loader which can be unlocked (but supposedly not relocked - don't confuse this with a SIM lock which is something completely different), but there are currently software update issues with the Xperia mini/mini pro on phones with unlocked boot loaders which may eventually be resolved but are likely to be inconvenient in the meantime, especially if custom ROMs are actively discouraged by Sony Ericsson.

Of course if you never want to customise the phone's software with a custom ROM then this won't be a problem, but it's still something that's worth knowing.

See: unlockbootloader.sonyericsson.com/
Considering this - but would want a custom rom on it - whats the likelihood of the modaco community getting hold of this. Ive still got £25 voucher for cpw from the ipad debarcle - making this 135

the san fran stock rom was so bad - there was no choice but to custom it - i guess i could live with stock 2.3 if its a decent one
Got this yesterday. First impressions are that it's an excellent little phone. Everything loads and runs quickly and smoothly. Zooming in browser is very quick, for example. Battery life seems pretty decent for a smartphone. Down to 53% after over a full day's use (including loading a ton of apps over Wifi). Operation is very smooth - definitely a massive improvement of the Wildfire. Screen is decent, but small. I'd thoroughly recommend at this price.

For the person wondering about Swype - it isn't preloaded, but I loaded the beta on it with no problems whatsoever.
I'm tempted but would go for the keyboard version.

Recently bought a galaxy s but really miss a physical keyboard

Thanks for the review, I am considering the phone.
Just picked this up from the shop this evening.

First, the good news, they offered me £37 trade in for my knackered Nokia 5230 (18 months old, only cost £99 new!)

Then the bad news, I was told that to use the £25 CPW/iPad voucher I needed to buy £20 worth of top up, not £10.

Anyway, I got the phone and have been playing around with it for a couple of hours. Overall It seems excellent. iPlayer works fine (on wifi), the screen is good and the phone is nice and small.

The one problem i've had is with the Bluetooth. It just doesn't seem strong enough.

Bluetooth is a killer for me - I hook up my phone to my Phonak hearing aids via a Bluetooth/FM transmitter for use on every call. If I'm not on the phone, i'm surreptitiously listening to music at work and all of this requires a stable BT connection. My previous Nokia was fine. The OSF was ok. My mates iPhone is ok too, but this xperia is really bad. Time will tell, but at the moment it appears too shaky for long-term use.

I'll try it properly for a day and then decide if I take it back.

Anyone know for sure if this one from CPW is unlocked and can take an O2 sim?

it is generally understood that all phones sold by CPW are unlocked.
I purchased this phone last night as a birthday present for my 11 year old son and it is unlocked. Good phone for the price and very nippy. Personaly i wouldn't buy it if you have large fingers as the screen is small and using the keyboard may be hassle. Great phone for teenagers and all you ladies out there!
Hawt! As long as you want a small screen...
Terrible user experience on this handset. Avoid at all costs.
i bought one and find it great. screen is small but still usable had the old x10 and this is much improved in every way.
quadrant score = 1557 cpu is the MSM8255 which is the same as HTC Desire HD, HTC Desire S, HTC Incredible S, HTC Inspire 4G, Huawei Vision, Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc, Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, So its got some poke in it.

KashimTerrible user experience on this handset. Avoid at all costs.

Anything to back that up? I've got this phone and it is an excellent user experience.
Same here, great little phone, fast and easy to use. Looks like it will be getting an update in October - TechRadar
Managed to have a play with one of these last week and I have to say it’s a nice phone but the battery life was dire under heavy use, managed about 4.00 hours but got 8 hours under normal conditions, might be something Sony can sort out with a update in the future but not good if you want to actually use a phone without carrying a charger around.

Actually no I was thinking of the x10 mini at the time this phone is great. As for the x10 mini terrible phone.
Just bought this phone on this deal. Its brilliant. After having an iphone and an orange san francisco I can confidently say this is the best of the lot. If anyone has any questions about the phone I will try to answer them the best I can.
At last a great phone at a sensible size just what I have been waiting for love it, anyone found a case for the mini pro yet .Thanks Peter
