not bad deal, around this price in the past (posted previously), big minus is Android 1.6 ver...not voted

Why on earth is this going cold, and not one alternative posted!!
It's adecent phone, great small size, and a useable keyboard.
1.6 yes, but SE have promised all x10 phones will get 2.1 this month... would add heat, but never got fixed after forum change...!

Its getting updated to android 2.1 this month.

Can these things be unlocked to say, Tesco mobile.
I know tesco run on O2 but u need to unlock them to work with tesc sim.

old deal

Prepaymania it's £174.99 on O2 and they have the mini for £159.99

O2 have a web form for requesting a phone unlock. Just google "online o2 phone unlock request". It is FREE!

Have done this for my recent HTC desire

o2.co.uk/app…orm

Does this have problems playing some android apps because of the small screen?

slow, crashes alot, lots of bad reviews, like most sony product, i`m not gonna vote cold as its cheap-ish, but pap phone.

Actually owning the phone I can tell you that it's not crashed once, its very fast, every reviewer has found a soft spot for it because it just does everything most phones have forgotten about, it's very good to chat on and amazingly fast to text with. Please base your comments when you have actually used the phone.

It is very well made, get 3 days out of the battery with moderate use.

Some apps don't work due to it being 1.6 and the screen size but it filters the android market for you so you can't see apps that don't work. It's getting the 2.1 upgrade this month, it can be unlocked, I used foneszone.co.uk and it now lets me use my Vodafone sim.

I got this a bit cheaper from a mate who works at very. But this is a good deal also.

I think your HTC phone was a pay monthly one. Right. In that case they do unlock for FREE. But for PayG phones, this is what it says in their website:
"If you're a Pay & Go customer, your O2 mobile can be unlocked 12 months after purchase for a one-off £15 fee which we'll deduct from your airtime balance."

Your right for that phone - unlocked using a pay monthly sim only thingy

HOWEVER, I unlocked my sony erricson w760i to sell on ebay using a free 02 sim, it had no credit on it!!! Unless that was an error......

O2 unlock form

I have used a free payg sim to unlock a o2 phone using the form. However - it may of worked because I am a pay monthly customer. In which case a pay monthly customer can unclock as many phones as they wish!! SO just ask a mate to lend his sim and details for you then....

Its defo a good phone but from what I've read on many reviews the battery life is just plain bad......some people reporting that even though the screen is much smaller than the HTC desire et al, the battery life on them is better than the SE Mini.

I was seriously looking at this for my next phone but the negative and consistent reviews about the poor battery life has made me put that decision on hold for the time being.

Is this deal available instore?

If you are just looking to chat and text get a standard phone that will do the job better. If you're after full android capability I think this phone falls short.

Do these take normal sized SIM card or micro SIM cards?

Would be interested to know if I can slot my existing SIM card in there from my normal non-android mobile phone.

September 27th I have been told
Also been informed that SE are looking at upgrading to 2.2 in October but are testing the viability of 2.2 before issuing a statement due to compatibility etc..

Agreed. I've been an O2 pay monthly customer for several years now either handset contracts or sim only contracts, and I've had around half a dozen handsets unlocked for free with O2 including the iPhone 3GS.

I think the qwerty keyboard really stands out, and you still get the latest variant of google maps so the functionality I wanted is there and some of the apps still work really well. The thing is your not paying big money for it either. Hardware qwerty keyboard with space enough for my fat fingers and a phone small enough to actually fit in a pocket without feeling your gonna crack it every time you sit down was what I wanted, android is just a bonus.

Buy one if you like it, don't if you don't like it, simples.

Its actually pretty good. Android 1.6 is the major drawback and obviously the screen is small.
It was the small size that made me get one- I cant stand big iphone sized phones.
Its fast, surprisingly powerful, screen is super responsive (best I've used), battery life is 24-48h depending how you use it.
No crashes for me yet- had it about 12 weeks. I would recommend it.

re: poor battery life, there's a widget that switches data traffic on and off which is supposed to help extend battery life

and, BTW, this is still cheaper at PrePayMania...

It's a great little phone and feels nice in your hand. As for battery life, I've had no great issues and let's face it, most people stick their phone on charge every night anyway so what's the big deal?
It's great for texting, keeping the same recipients messages in a conversation format. the apps are fine for a bit of fun.
The best thing, as said before, is the size. It's small enough to fit in your pocket without looking like you're pleased to see someone.

How long does it take for them to get back to you with the code?

very disappointed overall. both with google and sony.
google gave me a googlemail account so had to change it on pc in order to use market place! and have missed a lot of things out like typical google. ONE OF THEM BEING THAT YOU CANNOT SAVE APPS TO SD CARD! WHICH ON AN INTERNAL MEM PHONE WITH 8GB IS FINE BUT ON PHONES LIKE MINI PRO THAT HAS LIKE LESS THAN 200MB, CMON WTF ARE YOU THINKING GOOGLE???

sony though have F*'d up BIG tIME with this phone. i had the w995 vpreviously which was mega glitchy, and this is even worse!!!

i cannot ADD or ACCESS my contacts!

all apps eventually crash after 5 mins of playing even if i use app task manager before to end all apps.

A BIG ISSUE is not being able to copy ANY TEXT AT ALL!

email is useless

video player very very basic and out of sync most d time (three steps back there although it does remember the place you left each video)

obvious one is BLUETOOTH being FUDGED.

then theres the fact that the xperia range ARE THE ONLY ANDROID PHONES THAT DO NOT SUPPORT MULTI-TOUCH.

BASICALLY I FEEL LIKE IM TESTING A VERY BAD BETA OF A PHONE!!!!

IF THE UPDATE TO 2.1 DOESNT SOLVE ALL OF MY ISSUES (some not listed)

I WILL BE DITCHING SONYE'S FOREVER.
