Thought this would be a good starter phone for my 9 year old who will mainly use it for apps and music. Can't find in cheaper elsewhere.

Available in black or white

locked onto Tesco mobile, I'm sure you could get this unlocked cheaply though if needed.

Do you know if this phone/network comes with anything that stops a child accidentally looking at 'adult' things that you wouldn't want them seeing? I am trying to find what other parents do about these issues. ta
Most networks have child filters that can only be disabled via credit card verification. It stops such things as gambling and of course porn.

There is a product called iChaper.com which purports to be good for parental control. Haven't used it personally but it is pre-installed on Kurio phone that I posted about a few weeks ago.
Just bought this for my mum...didn't get the free C U Next Tuesday cain though...
BTW it'll be locked to Tesco/02/giff gaff and they charge £10 to unlock it.

Thanks, that looks the sort of thing. I don't want to be overly intrusive, but at the same time there is some nasty stuff on the internet.
I would be very careful with buying this phone with the intention of putting lots of apps onto it.... I think it has lots of problems with the memory arrangement (even if you put an SD card in to boost the capacity)... my daughters boyfriend had one and it couldn't load more than a couple of apps even with a 32gd memory card inserted
I agree with you, my 11 yr old daughter has just chose this for her birthday and she is really happy with it. have some heat.

I wish when your Deal went cold, people would explain why they are voting cold?!? Is it cheaper elsewhere, or is it just down to people voting as they don't like the product? as we all have different needs and opinions but as I expressed this phone for a 9 year old in my opinion is a hot deal, for myself however I have a Sony Z3, but that doesn't mean I would vote cold as in price I feel it is a deal at this price especially on the clubcard boost.
Hot from me

Its a lot of phone for the money. Ok, it is only 8gb, but im sure it will store more than just a couple of apps as someone mentioned.

I dont use many apps personally, so this is something i would consider if i was in the market for a phone!

Regarding the safety online for children...i wouldnt be sure that any software can truly prevent all adult content from being filtered. In my opinion, a child as young as 9 or 10 shouldnt be online without adult supervision. My 10 year old has a phone, but no internet. He can still use his apps etc, but not online unless we are there. It is the best way to ensure online safety.

that is exactly what I'm planning on doing for my 9 year old. he has a tablet already and only gets to go online when we allow it, and yes I agree you can set all the filters available but can never guarantee 100% that you will get them all blocked.
Where can you unlock this?
