Plus an additional £80 cash back

What additional cashback? I thought it was just £50, good deal nonetheless.
(edit) See you've changed it now.

Sorry - thought it was £80. Edited the post to £50. The original header didn’t mention the cash back I think
Nothing can compare to Samyang 85mm f1.4 for £450 in terms Value Bookeh and sharpness.

I guess he means an import from e-infin, though they don't seem to have it at the moment, though you can get this Sony lens for just £375 if you can cope with warranty issues with imports.

It was yesterday with 10% on ebay but not provided by super seller so I could not post it here.

It actually isn’t Samyang don’t make any good a.f lenses. Some of their manual focus lenses are decent.
Have a chance to buy the original Sony A7 with the 28-70mm kit lens, are these still capable cameras in 2019? Been looking for a cheap way to get into FF from my Nikon D3300 and to play around with some Super Takumar M42 lenses I have lying around.

You want the A7 III not the A7...

Well yeah, but there's quite the price difference between the two

I was watching that review the other day and thought it was a good look at the 85mm:

There is a good reason for the price difference. If you really want mirrorless and want the Sony ecosystem, you may consider A6400 as a bridge. It’s cropped sensor but highly capable.

A7 iii has cropped mode. But I am not entirely convinced the resulting imagine is usable nowadays as it will result in a 10mp file.

This lens is meant to be pretty decent value. On par with samyang. The samyang is very good. Slightly below the sigma and Sony 1.4 in terms of image sharpness and general quality.

But the Sony f1.8 has native Sony support so it should be quicker and more accurate in autofocus. Samyang lens are slower to track focus in video mode.

Caveat - I don’t own either lens but gather the above from various youtube test videos....

As long as it's cheap sub £500 I think so, many on here will disagree though and claim the AF is too slow, no ibis and the camera is 5 years old etc.etc. What you do get is a well made, light weight, highly compact (lighter and thinner than subsequent models), with still relevant and very good IQ, full frame camera. The EVF is excellent with no lag, the control buttons are easy to use and abundant and adapting old manual lenses is cheap and easy with he excellent zoom to focus control mapped to a button on the top plate. AF is not up to the latest Sony standards but is fine as long as you are not planning on sports or fast action. The biggest downsides are the battery life and noisy shutter, oh and that kit lens is very uninspiring, use mine only with primes.

Some random full size samples I've taken with mine mainly using the Sony FE28mm F2 and Samyang 35mm F2.8
(lose the asterisks)

That's what I'm thinking, IQ still seems very high and AF isn't that much of a concern as I don't shoot anything fast moving.

For the budget, not sure I can do much better with FF and IQ, just doing a little research on available lenses for the platform.

Have to say I've been partial to prime lenses myself in the past, one I really wouldn't mind trying out again is the Pentax Super Takumar 50mm F1.4 that was beautiful on my Canon 30D.

Look at this guys. And then final verdict. Samyang it's a winner with f1.4 and warmer white balance. youtu.be/Fss…u7k

Hey,

I moved from Nikon d5100(served me great for 5 years) to Sony a7 last year.

Got the sony for £510 with kit lens (after cashback + Black Friday sale)

The kit lens is not bad at all.

Had got the 50mm 1.8 sony prime but then sold it off.

Recently got the Samyang 45mm 1.8f and am liking it for now.

I am not professional but wanted a full frame with a light weight lens for general photography. So this combination suits well.

Bottom line—I would surely recommend sony a7 even now if budget is the main concern as it’s the cheapest full frame available.

Else go for the sony a7 m3
Was the A7 ii in heavy discount and cash back were running that resulted it new units being around 600? That surely is better than mark 1.

Anyway I never liked 28-70mm as a zoom lens. Not wide enough and nor long enough.

For the money I paid, it's a bargain frankly! Don't think I'll ever be able to go back to a fixed screen on a camera for starters

Going to have a proper go at the camera on Sunday and Monday. Also waiting for my K&F adapter so can start using my old M42 Pentax primes.
