Good price. I've been after a new camcorder to upgrade from my MiniDV one.

This review isn't too complementary though:

I read that review too. However when comparing price against other camcorders in this catergory it does still stand out as a good deal with the cashback. I've got an old Sony MiniDV aswell which I've owned for over 6 years now and its totally let me down on a recent trip to Disneyland Paris (seems to have developed a major problem with glare and really struggles with daylight). I figure this one looks a worthy replacement.

Another observation for those of us that already own older Sony Handycam models (such as older MiniDV format camcorders) is that the batteries look to be compatable with their new range. I myself have 2 batteries with my old MiniDV which is a further incentive!

This gets better! Having read the t&c’s I do not see anything that hints at this offer not being available in conjunction with any other offer (i.e. cashback) so this looks valid to me.

Thanks for posting

That bag looks ok. Sells for £14 and has good reviews.
I still have the camcorder bag from the last Sony promotion a few years back but this one can fit a pocket digital camera in as well.

1080i = 720p

Cold, not full hd as per title, poor camcorder.

£184.72 here:

waeplus.co.uk/pro…der

says "This is a european model, provided with suitable adapters for UK use, where required." so not sure if they are a UK dealer for the purposes of the Sony offer.

I got a CX115, which I suspect is an inferior spec to this, for £150 thanks to a previous HUKD posting and for the money it's great.

Since when?

I was looking for a camcorder too, I am happy to spend more, any good deals around 500-600 mark?

youtube.com/wat…YXY

Video of camera, lacks the sharpness I think.

The cashback is only valid at authorized UK dealers, can anyone confirm if digiplus is a valid dealer?

I have to say the Panasonic SD90 is incredible...I have the more expensive Panasonic TM900....but funnily enough in outdoor video with the sun out, my friends SD90 had better video, wider angle lens. Only one MOS sensor but greater megapixels compared to each individual sensor in the TM900 (3MOS) camera. Colours more vibrant in the SD90 but TM900 probably more accurate. Add to that the benefit of it being lighter with greater optical zoom and significantly cheaper and you have a great product. I can imagine in different settings the TM900 would rule eg low light and better onboard sound with 5.1 capable but still.

Is the one at Huses.net the same as this this?
Can anyone justify this? I have never heard of this website in my life before, also the .net domain looks dodgy.
I have missed the GBP249.99 deal with Pure silver GBP5 olympic coin. Would not want to miss more!!!!

Around £150 on Ebay through Argos - might come a s a return or damaged packaging but essentially new with a full years warranty. I got one here and it is fine - excellent value for money

swarnford - personally i would rather pay the extra £21 for brand new with the free case. If one is stretched for cash the argos ebay route is a helpful option to know about though. Thks

Huses.net (a Kent store I believe) seems the cheapest deal now for a Panasonic SD90 now that the Amazon special has ended. The SD90 is stunning picture quality on my 46" TV - better than Sky1 HD even! And, unlike other camcorders, it shoots at 1080p as well as 1080i. Unbeatable picture quality for the price.

The white version is just £299.99 from Panasonic online direct (and Panasonic shops too?) with a free £5 coin (collector's item) and free Panasonic leather case:-

Update: I think it's out of stock now at Panasonic.co.uk - try phoning your local Panasonic Shop maybe?

In stock at Pixmania: pixmania.co.uk/uk/…tml

just as a warning so you don't get ripped off like me - I would double check with the seller that they are legit sony dealer. I bought the CX115 from an Amazon seller and couldn't even raise an invoice/reciept off the seller and they just said the cashback deal wasn't valid through them - end of!

Always read the small print as I got caught out by the Nikon deal as well - NOT VALID through Dixons Travel - WELL PUT IT SOMEWHERE MORE OBVIOUS IN THE ADVERTS YOU CRETINS, i'm not bitter though - honest.

Panasonic is crap for night mode. If you want to use a camera at day then just get a normal camera. Nothing can beat Sony camcorders!!

Talk crapp

Guys, does anyone know the difference between Olympic HDC-SD90EB-W-2012 and a normal SD90 black?

The only difference is that the Olympic white edition comes with a £5 Coin and a leather Panasonic carrying case:-
panasonic.co.uk/htm…tml

The other versions of the SD90 are black, no coin, no leather case, identical specifications.

Regarding someone's post earlier about poor performance in low light - I own this model and all my indoor or early evening footage looks miles brighter and clearer than it ever did with the Sony that it replaced. Also, the 1080p FULL HD picture quality is unequalled on any camera under £500, as is it's 3D-Ready functionality. Buy with confidence! (if you can find it!!).

I don't know what Sony camcorder you owned but but when you buy a camcorder you always check for the lux. Most older Sony camcorders where the only camcorders to have 0 lux or 0.5 lux. All the other brands where around 3 - 6 lux. And some used to stutter framerate in the dark because the sensor could not keep up with the focus.

Nothing can beat Sonys own featurel Exmor R CMOS Sensor which is amazing for low light shooting. . .

Maybe the new panasonic range has improved but it will never beat a sony camcorder using a Exmor R CMOS Sensor.

Besides that, sony where the first to bring out nightvision camcorders and IR attachments!! in there dv & hi8 range camcorders. . .

Exmor R CMOS Sensor is the main foundation if you want to use a camcorder at night!

Thanks, babyface_snoop, but I still think that the picture quality due to the full 1080p resolution of the Panasonic SD90 makes it unbeatable value for money. I'm not a tech expert but a review for the SD90 quoted it's lux at 1 which gives my indoor and dusk scenes perfect exposure every time.

Each to their own of course :-)

Hi thats ok. I'm not on about just this camcorder, I mean other Sony camcorders which use Exmor R CMOS Sensor.

Exmor sensor runs on the latest new tech chip which beats any sensor on the market today.

I personally think if you want a camcorder to use in very dark places like the forest then its good to get a sony camcorder with a Exmor R Sensor

Guys, it's now £10 cheaper!
