only 1080i...

Would be nice if Sony done their £50 cashback on this again. I think it ran out end of August :-(

ok..im a novice..so basically i film with this.... to connect to tv do i have to go via the HD point at the back or can i go via the red yellow thingies ..cos my tv is wall ounted and its 50 inch so be a nightmare if we have to go via the back as never taken it off its bracket.

also if i wanna put it on disc..do i just buy the correct format disc..ie a blu ray disc to view it on HD?

whats that mean?

Banned

it means nothing really unless you are super snobby like some people , most people cannot tell the difference between 1080i & 1080p

Pity Sony still stick to their cruddy overpriced proprietary Memory Sticks, when all sensible manufacturers use open standards such as SD card.

would love to buy one of these but it's out of my price range. Any good suggestions for an HD flash camcorder around £150-£250?

It looks well nice!!!

Try the Panny TZ5 at £180 - a digital camera per se, but will record exceptional quality full HD to SDHC video as well.

You could buy a micro sd card and a memory stick adaptor. Works fine in my PSP.

That's a useful workaround, but you shouldn't have to!;-)

The adapter's i've seen dont take MicroSDHC so pretty useless for a HD camcorder

Great camera. Bought when last appeared with 50 quid cashback, but I think this is still cheaper. Clarity is excellent and easy to use. Will be checking for price drop on Amazon in case I need to claim from them. Hot.

Good price, I'd go for the HD sanyo instead myself, that comes in at about £250 if you can find a good price, but this Sony is quality if you can afford it.

It comes supplied with the component lead, although a HDMI cable is available for it. AVC-HD can be burnt on to both DVD and Blu-ray, and will playback in most BD-players and the PS3. All that matters is how much you need to record on one disc.

The supplied 4GB card will get you roughly 30mins of video at the highest quality.

Great little camcorder!

I got this as well, its a great little camcorder - very, very wife friendly and simple to use. It is also very compact indeed and has a fantastic touchscreen lcd. I purchased an additional 16Gb memstick which was about £100 from play

You can play the native AVCHD videos on your PC using the suppied software (which is good) OR burn them to a hi-def format e.g. blu-ray OR burn them to a standard-def format e.g dvd OR reformat them to say wmv /mpeg format (using something like Sony Vegas) for streaming from your xbox. Incidentally if you have a PS3 you will be able to take the raw AVCHD files and play them directly on that in hi-def.

Overall I am very please with this camera, not cheap but great usability, quality and portability.
Battery life is not bad either, think I was getting over 110 minutes on full hi-def and recharge time is very quick as well.
