Sony - that 'used to be good but living on their reputation now' brand.

Not voting but if I were shopping for one of these I'd look at Panasonic before Sony. I think they've taken over Sony's position as best Japanese brand in most areas of the market - certainly for TVs and digital cameras.

I'll take your word on the Sony reputation Besford.

However, this camcorder rates quite highly on a number of websites. Additionaly, I can't seem to find another full HD camcorder with similar HDD capacity any cheaper. Surely on that basis, this camcorder is a pretty good buy ?
