Just noticed this on the sony refurbished store as been wanting this soundbar for a while as wanted a soundbar with dolby atmos and this supposed to be one of the best but always seem to be 1199 everywhere and luckily for me saw it today on the refurbished store. Seems to have a lot of good reviews between 4-5 stars

Is this better than an amp? (a question for those that know) I ask as amps with atmos and 7.2 are alot cheaper

The cheapest basic amps with speakers and dolby atmos are about £550 when on sale, don't think you can get anything under £700. Apart from the Damson deal I posted a while ago. I guess one of the advantages of this is less cables.

It’s only worth what it’s worth to someone. I wouldn’t pay this for a TV let alone a sound bar, but I haven’t voted either way.
Funny thing is if this was say the bose soundbar or the sonos with sub for this amount guarantee that it would have been voted hot. Plus this has been out for over a year and hasn't really had a price drop so thought this was a good deal but someone people don't vote on the deal basis but on that its expensive compared to cheaper sounders even though they dont have same features as this

Eye of the beholder. A lot of people can't see value in things they can't justify for themselves.

So do we vote cold for every deal we can’t afford now? I often vote hot on things I don’t want or need, a good price is a good price whether you want the item or not.
Cant believe this is cold, one of best sounds I've heard from sound bar
This should not be cold. I would not pay this price, but only because I can get a system with surround speakers. Probably not as good as this, but I prefer it that way. Voted hot!

Comparable quality separates will always sound better. Compact speakers and speakers generating sound from one direction just can’t compete with separates for fullness and surround effect. I myself however have gone the other way, from separates to a soundbar. The practically and what we use the soundbar for (better vocals when watching tv shows and movies) means it’s a better overall solution for us.
OOS
Hot - paid £1000 new and was completely worth it.

Which one did you go for? I’m also looking to do the same switch. The front speakers with my new tv width take too much space according to the misses.

I went through tons of reviews and then randomly saw an LG SJ6 on clearance at Curry's so went for that. Considering I was planning on spending a lot more, I’m glad I didn’t as it’s a very good soundbar (I paid circa £150). It comes with a slick wall mount and wireless sub, Bluetooth and most importantly a CEC compatible HDMI port which allows synced TV remote volume and on/off.
