if it's crap y waste your time to comment?
Compared to the Apple sheep and the Sonos fan boys - IMHO this is a excellent bit of kit

Because I wanted to simple as that
Im considering getting this, how would it sound in comparison to a sonos playbar?
Looool whoever says this sound system is bad really need to do their research. Ive bought this, ive had the ysp-2500 and the sonos playbar. All i can say is the sonos didnt even get close in matching sound quality in movies. The ysp-2500 was the best for music and had a deep bass. But the bes g was the rt5 it was the only one with true surround sound and made it feel like you are actually their at the scene. Best for watching films and movies!!!! Top soundbar i would recommend it to everyone you can even find it on amazon all good reviews unlike the sonos playbar, which i ran into alot of problems with!
...but its never been in stock since it was posted...........
As its OOS I wonder if this
http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/tv-and-home-entertainment/dvd-blu-ray-and-home-cinema/home-cinema-systems-and-sound-bars/sony-ht-nt3-cek-2-1-wireless-sound-bar-10120183-pdt.html
is a good alternative. Seems to get equally good reviews on amazon and possibly very similar under the hood ? Just without the back speakers which I wasn't bothered about anyway ...
Was in stock yesterday and back in stock today - Unfortunately the discount code has expired
Back up to £500 everywhere, could also be had yesterday at rgb for £400 but it's gone back up again.
Hey no fair, the discount code clearly said until Monday !
Hi the code still works, it no longer shows on the website but enter htk20 at checkout and price goes to £399.99

So it does, thanks for that. Ordered ! Don't like to rush purchases normally but with it likely to go OOS again I took the plunge. Always got 14 days to send back if not happy for any reason..
Ah. "Due to unforeseen circumstances, we regret to inform you that you may not receive your order within the delivery timescale indicated on the website. We will contact you shortly to discuss the matter with you, in the meantime please accept our apologies for the potential delay."

Don't mind waiting though others might ...
Oos again, ive been holding off, even at £400 as I'm hoping for a better black Friday deal. Starting to think this is the best I will get before Christmas now though.

Haha I've been following the av forums thread and I've also read that review, seems quite positive.

Also came across this forum though which has a few negatives avsforum.com/for…tml

Thanks for that, i mainly saw one negative post, but i guarantee you he felt like that because he wasnt watching a true dts hd movie like i did. I had the playbar and two of the play speakers behind me with the subwoofer. It just didnt feel good enough watching avengers age of ultron with dts hd. But when i played it using the rt5, i heard every detail including the plane passing by, rubble falling aside when hulk smashes into the ground, and at one point there was an explosion which literally made me jump. None of these happened for me with the sonos, dont get me wrong it still is a really good setup but not for watching true 5.1 or 7.1 movies, and for the price youd be paying its a total rip off. In my opinion a sonos is as overrated as an Apple. But again this is only my opinion. Im still looking for more reviews on this. I wish i could have the yts-2500 as the sound bar and just keep the rear speakers, loool. Anyways i may change my system soon. But ill probably end up coming back to the sony. And btw even though the rt5 doesnt have the high res audio, it sounds better than the nt3. I think the only real competition for this is the yts 2500, and i couldnt chose that bcas of my open room, it just wouldnt sound that good

OK thanks, I will be getting it soon, I had a playbar on its own, managed to get it for cheap but I wasn't impressed so sold it straight away, I was close to getting a yps2500 but I've also got an open room so it wouldn't really work. There is also a new philips system out soon, e6 I think, it's a 2.1 system but it has 2 detachable wireless rears built into into the two front speakers for when u want surround. Looks interesting

Yes that would be far better, I also want a soundbar that has feet to straddle the giant pedestal on my TV, that's one thing that puts me off the Sony, I don't really have the space in front of the TV, will need to buy some sort of rubber feet for it. Yamaha ysp design is perfect for me, with the feet on it
Mine has just turned up so no delay after all ! Looks really sleek ! I know this is probably a stupid question but to anyone else that ordered one - where the beep is the manual and remote ? I'll have a rummage through the boxes again in case its taped on the underside of something - but any clues appreciated !
Ok my bad. Right under the very bottom polystyrene panel. Doh !

Have you thought about mounting either ur tv or soundbar, it definately improves the sound quality
Oh yeah TV pedestal is a bit of a problem, had a search for some feet but no luck so far...

Wall mounting TV is a no, I've just got it all setup how j want, got ikea cabinets screwed into walls at perfect height for me, all cables running round back etc, so I don't wanna mess with that, suppose I could wall mount the soundbar above the TV, but is that a good idea? I can imagine it spoiling my view.

I actually popped into curries to have a look Las night, there was a so called Sony expert there but he couldn't really be arsed, so I had a pretty poor demo, I didn't realise the sub was soo big aswell, the depth is huge.

yh its quite big but luckily its wireless so you could put it anywhere in the room especially in corners since thats wer they sound best, it would look bad above the tv, can i ask how much you need the soundbar to be raised to fit under the tv?

Not a lot, maybe 12mm to get over the pedestal
by the way one thing i cant get to work is the back speakers working like a 5.1ch on youtube with youtube 5.1ch content, also the sound is really good, bass isnt that good but my subwoofers positioning is pretty bad. Still its not as good as i remembered for music. Ill be testing it for movies soon. But im starting to regret not getting the ysp2500 since the rear speakers arnt doing as much as i thought. Hopefully movies will make a huge difference.

are you happy with the sound, as i moved house after auto calibration and everything i feel like the rear speakers dont do that much, e.g hear a heli passing from over head, i used every kind of content. lol mainly bought this for the rear speakers.

I agree the back speakers aren't doing that much - but that wasn't a priority for me and I may well dispense with them. The bar looks great (especially compared to the mess of speaker cables I had) and sounds fantastic when using the new sony dvd/blu ray player I bought at the same time.I think for the 399 I paid I got a good deal (especially taking into account the screen mirroring + bluetooth music + amazon instant app etc.)

btw For the moment I've just got the bar plonked on top of the pedestal ! It doesn't seem to affect the sound much and by pushing right up to the TV all the HDMI cables are completely hidden !

The back speakers arnt doing much in general or just YouTube?

Im starting to dislike the rt5, its a really good system but its not worth the money, i played a 5.1 channel movie, subwoofer was amazing, rear speakers didnt do anything. Im returning it and im gonna test out next either a ysp 2500 or im just gonna go with a lg bh9540tw home cinema, even though my room is small and ive got alot of furniture i want to make sure i get the best sound. Maybe the sound of the rt5 wasnt good enough because i had compared it to the sound of the 55ec930v. Rt5 is good for music but too low sound for movies. I wish i read amazon.com reviews before buying lol. I just want sound significantly better than my tvs.
