I had a price alert for when it dropped back to this price. Took about 4-5 months. Hope this helps anyone.

NOTE: This is not a camera with a lens in case you order it without knowing.

not sure, its a huge jump up in price to the a7iii @ 2grand
unless that price comes down i dont think they need to reduce it as is sort of a different market

Yep, don’t see Sony dropping prices that much. New models usually just come in higher and the current models continue as is. Cheapest is if there’s a discount on at the same time as a Sony cashback offer.

Personally would only go for something with better AF and 4K but can’t argue it’s a deal.
6D II more reliable for almost this same price on eBay. Buy Sony, think expensive lenses...

I've had a play with a7r3 just about a week ago ( Jessops in Reading ) AF speed and how locks on eye/face just blow me away. a7iii should have as good or even better AF, I'm seriously considering to change from a7r2 just waiting for a good deal to come up ATM Jessops offer sounds the best with 3 year warranty and interest free ( 12m ) package for 2k ( also 15% discount for extra battery )

In the same boat... A7Rii just sold and awaiting a call from Jessops to collect my pre-order. Most stores are getting a second 'before release' shipment this week/early next.

Had a play on a friend's who got in on the first batch and the AF-C/Eye AF is fantastic, as is the full frame 4K (no dimming and practically the same as Super35!) which are my main reasons to forego the 42mp. Throw in 93% frame coverage, 10fps burst, much bigger buffer, joystick, much better battery, tap to rack focus, dual cards, and it's almost a no-brainer.

BTW you can get 2 years interest free at Harrison's.
I've just sold my A7ii after two happy years of owning it, excellent camera.
I've got a Nikon D600 and debating whether to go mirrorless. Anyone here done the change or vice versa? Xx

I would check the auto focus, particularity in low light and with moving targets if this is important. Can't comment on the A7 MK3 but compared to the A7 Mk2, a Nikon D750 knocks spots off it. Image quality in low light is quite a bit better also.
Best camera I’ve ever owned and owned it for the longest I’ve ever kept a camera now, used to change about all the time, this is awesome for the money

The 6D II's AF system is a bit naff though. AF system for a crop sensor shoehorned into a FF sensor = lots of space not covered by AF.
remember £ is strengthening so imports should start to get cheaper.
waiting for this to drop to the £800, a lot on sale on ebay that are going cheap 2nd hand due to the mk3. , there is a big leap between the 2 and 3 which justifys double the price imo as the mk3 can be your one and only camera. Justifys the price difference imo.
My dad has the mk3 was brought 2 weeks ago (was onsale at photography show for anyone who went) and so far so good.

In the last year I have owned the Canon 7D, Sony A7, Fuji X-T2, Sony A7ii and just sold that to get a D750.

A7II AF is slow. D750 is miles quicker. If I had the budget though, I would get an A7III, that thing is pretty amazing.

Lenses are a huge consideration though.

Used but mint condition I just got 24-120mm F4, 50mm 1.8g and 18-35mm g (the good newer one) for a total cost of £885

The available similar lenses on the Sony would be 24-105mm F4, 50mm 1.8, 16-35mm f4 - all of these used would cost £1900 approx.

So a big consideration.

Exactly the move I have just made.

The prices of the lenses is a huge negative for the mirrorless, hence why I think I will stick with the Nikons.

Many thanks for the info though, confirms what I though xx
