The A7rii has just recently dropped down in price, it's available for 'pre-order' before it gets in stock. Note: this is the previous verison to the A7riii that is currently on the market.

edit: cashback doesn't work with Amazon

As you can tell, it it not always in stock with Amazon UK, so this is a good chance to get it from them, as they have superb customer service, in my opinion. I would get this, however not got enough money still at the moment, selling my A6500 for this.

Noted, I put body only in the title. Some of us like body onlys though, if you are paying that much for a camera: I would suggest looking into what you are buying first. Why do some of us prefer body onlys? Because we have plans to get lenses seperately, or have our own lenses already.

I’ve seen some very daft comments on here but I’ve had my eyes opened even further.
You bought a camera body, it came with no lens. Yet you call the ‘camera’ a spare part for a lens.

They don’t sell a car without a steering wheel or tyres expecting the customer to use the ones from their existing cars, do they?

When they sell a caravan. They don’t include a car.

Also going by your previous comment and analogy. You pretty much feel you bought the engine but they didn’t make it clear you didn’t get a car with it.

If you guys feel so insecure about having no lens when buying the camera then buy it with the camera, adds another at least around £300-£1000 more, depending on the lens. Don't forget the person who complained in the first place bought the camera without the lens, so it's his fault which he's taking out on the product. It clearly is a body only. What's so difficult to understand that items can be modular as opposed to having a fixed system? If that's what you want, then buy a fixed system. This is a niche market, just like many other markets; do your research before buying a product.

It's a pro-level camera with very high spec. Most people on here would probably be fine with a £500 (or less) camera if they are just taking holiday snaps or need a camera to put reasonably high quality pics on the web.

I once spent over £4k on a DSLR (with no lens included), and am still using it today (12 years later). It has served me well, but I would never spend that much now unless is was something I absolutely needed and there was no cheaper alternative. I usually buy second hand to save money now since older cameras are more than capable for most things I want to do, and I don't like throwing money away just to have the latest/greatest. In fact, I bought a second (used) copy of the DSLR that I paid £4k for not long ago, and paid around 1/10th the price I paid when it was new.

The A7rII doesn't interest me at all, but I am after an A7sII (in used condition) for a specific need I have right now, and willing to pay around £800-900 for just the body as the next best alternative for my specific use would cost around £8K (new)!

So while £500 might seem a lot to some, it's all relative. If you need a shovel costing £10 for a particular job, then a £3 trowel is not going to cut the mustard, or get that hole (that you want to dig for a pond) dug efficiently. It's just a matter of getting the right tool needed for a particular job.

Well said sir
The price is more than I paid for mine years ago (grey market).
That includes the £300 cashback reduction.

May be, but no warranty

May be, but no warranty

3 years UK warranty. Which is longer than buying it from a UK retailer
Yes, I have used the warranty. All costs are covered when it gets sent to Sony UK.

Sony UK are a bunch of incompetent FWS though, but that's another story.

Sorry dad. Didn't realise it was a requirement for me to upload deals.
Had I complained about the deal I'd see your point. But it was you doing the complaining wasn't it?

How did you get me being insecure from what I wrote? I think you're completely missing my point. Because I agree with everything you're saying.
I'd like the A7RII since I've gotten into macro photography. But I'll have to make do with the A7II for now.

Sorry, mate. I thought you were saying that you would only buy cameras with lenses as you were questioning about him buying a bed without a matress. The comment wasn't aimed directly at you, but those who think it's rediculous to buy a body only. I misunderstood what you were saying. My sincere apologies..

Don't worry about it. Everyone was crying about a camera without a lens and using analogies like "cars without wheels". So I was wondering if they buy beds and wonder where the mattress is. Not to worry.

How silly, is it even practical to drive a camera anywhere let alone to work??

Camera, according to the oxford dictionary is "a device for recording visual images in the form of photographs, film, or video signals."

Just wanted to point out that you will NOT get cashback on this buying from amazon as only select retailers are included for cashback on this camera, found that out after checking the terms last night when I saw it drop to under £2100

Back to my original plan of buying from panamoz for £1640

check the t+c, there is a specific mention of this camera

amazon isn't listed so take a chance if you want
the difference here is rather than just 'authorised' dealers its 'specialist'
