Is this better than the LG oled?

Yes. Its motion handling and upscaling are a marked improvement on LG's efforts. This is generally regarded as the best OLED on the market right now in terms of picture quality, and will likely remain right up there even as the 2018 models arrive. Some of the other manufacturers have fancy new processors in their 2018 models in an attempt to catch up, but I'd expect parity as a best case scenario. They've all been playing catch-up to Sony for a long time on that front.

Its only real weakness is the performance of the Android TV component. It uses exactly the same budget Mediatek chipset as Sony's lowest end Android-equipped LCD (and sadly so do their 2018 models). Very poor from Sony to penny pinch on such an expensive TV.

Fell of my chair ... rofl , wouldn't waste that money on sony crap
Been looking for a deal on the 65ins & I’ve not found one as good as theirs, £3495 + £250 cashback + free wall bracket + 2 years warranty on top of the standard 5 year = 7 year warranty + 24 months interest free if required. Thanks OP

I called them, they take the £250 off the price & will also take off an extra £10 if you don’t want the wall bracket. That takes the 65 inch to £3,235 & the 55 inch to £2,085. I can’t find it this cheap anywhere & there’s the extra 2 years warranty & 24 months interest free if you need it. I am purchasing the 65 inch on Tuesday when they reopen, they confirmed the £3,235 price for me. Currys and John Lewis will price match but will only give 18 months interest free and no extra warranty.
