Sony KD-55X8509c refurb inc 5 Year Warranty - £699.99! Sony Centre Leeds

I have been looking for a 4K TV for a while now and although initially loads of people said the software with the Sony's was terrible it seems like these have been sorted! Saw this deal previously on here at 599 without the 5 year warranty and with some buyers getting cracked screens etc.

Spoke with the sales guy in the Leeds store and he says the price has gone up but the refurbs are now excellent and don't have these issues - he said I can have it delivered to store to check it out first as well. Noticed these are selling online:

centresdirect.co.uk/p-1…spx

at £679.99 which seems like a pretty good deal anyway - but the Leeds store are doing a 5 year warranty for an extra £20 which seems like a bargain! Not sure whether it's national or store specific...

Anyway, whilst I know it has been cheaper it seemed like that was a bit of a lottery so hopefully mine will be perfect when it arrives - hope this helps someone else!!

I paid £599 for mine, it's an excellent tv.
I picked up one of the Sony 4K Android TVs (KD-55X8005C) from Amazon just before Christmas. We had one issue with the TV utterly decimating our network speeds but once we'd tracked the problem down to the TV it was easily resolved. The Android OS is great, the picture quality is superb... I wouldn't hesitate to recommend

new or refurb?
Great price

I have the 8309c model.

A driver update was released two dates ago and android now runs beautifully. No more problems or lag whatsoever.
Problem is these are returns - many people did have issues I was one so a lottery if you get a good one from new. Returns not for me I'm afraid.

I ordered one of these at £599. Came with dead pixels and backlight bleed. Got collected today and now I'll wait for the refund and buy it new.
Nice. The 5 year warranty is awesome

Direct with Sony - it's what sold it for me! They said its in home fixes and if it can't be fixed its replaced with a more up to date model

That's good to know. I ask because from what I can understand the sony centres have nothing to do with sony with themselves, in that they are a group of independent retailers who are simply licensing the sony name.

Yes, but these refutes come directly from Sony and are sold by Sony. Sony have outsourced the customer contact side of their outlet to Sony centres.

not updated in the latest update, was a previous one (maybe 2 or 3 updates ago). the latest update which my tv received was this morning.

I have this tv, and its well worth this amount of money. especially with a sony warranty.

good chance people will get a good one, as the vast majority of returns are for issues with the software, which runs pretty solid these days. still the odd wee glitch every now and again, but that's the case with all android devices.
I've just sent mine back this morning but I'd be tempted to try again at £679 especially if it comes with a 5 year guarantee.

But I keep thinking this TV should be coming down soon since it is last years model, and I remember JL reducing the 55" W829 (2014) model to £649 with a soundbar around this time last year so I'm hoping they do the same this year on the equivalent 2015 model.

Not sure if it will come down (hopefully not now anyway!) as apparently it's staying this year as the lower end model..

Really? That would be an expensive low end model at £999 rrp!

It was a HDR update but it was for netflix
So this isn't HDR for YouTube or Amazon?

You're correct
I have this tv and it's the best tv I have ever owned! Probably the most expensive as well. Being a kodi and Plex subscription user this tv really is a must! No extra wires, and runs great since the new update.

If your on the shelf about android tv's don't be.... It's awesome

whats the HDR like? also does this tv upgrade HD viewing on say sky tv to 4K or standard viewing to HD?
I don't notice any difference with sky hd when I switch it onto 4K and as for the hdr I haven't used it. If your on the fence over this tv though I wouldn't be, dig deep and get it ordered
