Refurbished models are products returned to Sony under the following circumstances: change of mind, faulty out of box, box damage or minor cosmetic imperfections. These products will be fully tested and repaired where necessary by an authorised repair centre. Whilst many of these products will be in as good as new condition, we cannot guarantee refurbished products sold will be delivered in the original packaging and may have minor cosmetic imperfections such as scratches, marks or discoloration. Sony offers 2 types of refurbished product, Grade A and Grade B. Grade B products may have more significant imperfections than Grade A (and may have been used for more than 500 hours) and are priced accordingly. All refurbished products (Grade A and B) have a 12 month warranty.

I have this TV and cannot recommend it. Android OS is slow and will drive you mad. It takes minutes from switch on to become responsive. Mine has been repaired twice. Sony offer a free extended warranty on this TV until 2021 because of a known problem with the TV not powering on. Worst TV I have ever owned.

The reference has an A suffix so I guess it's A grade. But it's definitely not clear.
I wont trust centers direct. I purchased refurbs, came with cracked screen. Reported it they sent another with a cracked screen. Took 1 month for them to collect the tvs and refund.

A couple of years old now, but was well received when it was released.

Good write up, but its a 2016 model. So would Sony really be selling a new out the box refurbished set?

Since it's that old it could be repaired units
Stay clear of this Tv. Had massive issues with it (ended up having 3 replacements) and eventually returned it for refund. Not voting either way but Sony it’s not what it used to be

Thats the thing that concerns me, how many hours of use has the TV had. Now it could be unsold stock thats been returned with damaged boxes. Who knows, its like they wouldn't tell you.

Though reading through the reviews, it seems a very capable TV. With might even surpass some of the 2018 TV's as its also 3D, which someone people still want.

Loads of dead pixels and these smudges like under the screen. After so many Emails from Sony I still haven’t found out what it was. It looked awful on 1900£ Tv.

Yep too right. Same experience. Got LG now.
Excellent TV for daytime viewing, can't go wrong with a Sony. Heated

You're less likely to get these issues with a refurb set to be honest
I wouldn't touch a refurb led with a barge pole.
New Led tvs have enough enough issues with light bleed, uneven light dispersal, clouding etc without adding issues. You can't refurb the panel. So if that is why it was refurbed it will still be crap. Steer clear. Cold.
Same price at the Sony Centre.
It could be worth a punt. If it works out of the box it will probably be a good set. There is a chance however that the repair will not have sorted the issue so be prepared to return it if you have any doubts. Still, hot at the price
