I've literally just filled in a price match form, if they do it then I will definitely be buying this. I was going to buy an older Sony for £449, so this is a great deal!

Thanks
curious if they match my TV is on blink and bravia is what I'd prefer
Graet TV, really happy with mine. Just bought the new Sony HT-XT2 soundstage to go with it
*Great
Why did the clutch on my car just have to *! up on me just after booking a holiday!!! This is a bad day to be broke

Amazing price for new technology and big screen. My son had 2 of these from Amazon but both went back as there was so many problems. The most obvious one was the amount of background distortion more obvious if you check it on a blue screen. Looks like the technology may be a little ahead of itself and hopefully can be fixed with firmware updates. Lots of other problems reported so do a bit of research before you buy. Still an amazing price considering I paid £800 for a pretty basic Samsung 46 inch LCD.
Fab TV and wicked price! John Lewis should price match as done it for me 3 times this year against Tesco
Managed to get the 55' for same price from Amazon some time back and love the TV so much I changed all my TVs to Sony 2015 Androids
Great deal.
I know this is a bit off topic, but can anyone recommend a 55"-60" 1080p TV?

Really? I also bought the 55" version on Amazon and closely watched the price for a couple of months. Pretty sure the 55" never went below £599 which meant I managed to get it for £569 after 5% student discount.
I want it, I want it, I want it . Nope fairy didn't work (built in Youview )
How to find JL price match form please? TIA.
Have some heat.

Good price for a really good TV. I have one, no problems with it, picture is great. Not sure about sound, as I have mine going through an external source.

One thing to note, is you should do the system update asap as it adds functionality that was originally delayed.

This review of the American X810C is the same model as the X8005C here: uk.rtings.com/tv/…fbb

Apparently. Although the 55" version uses a different panel to the 65" version. So this 49" version may well use something different again ....

(The black uniformity in the corners would put me RIGHT off!)
shindigger

How they can still use this tagline really needs challenged (except online, costco, etc etc etc)

Found it cheers. Fingers crossed.
I got the 49" version off Amazon on a lightning deal a few months ago for £489 and this is the best price for this TV I've seen since. I know the 55" was cheap in a lightning deal on Amazon before I got my 49" but don't think it was ever this cheap.
Anyway don't hesitate at this price. A cracking TV for the money, especially if you can get JL to pricematch.
Ignore any earlier reviews rubbishing the Android TV system as these 2015 Sony models have since received several updates to the OS that have sorted out the original issues. There are quite a few apps available through Android TV but you can sideload apps just like any Android device and Kodi runs well natively from the TV app without needing a Firestick. The picture quality on this TV is outstanding and upscales exisiting 1080 content to the panel's 4K resolution superbly. Once you've tweaked the settings you can get a very natural looking and realistic picture then check out some of the 4K demos on the TV's youtube app to whet your appetite for future 4K material. As usual the sound isn't up to much but buy yourself a soundbar with the savings, job's a good'un..!

This 49" uses an IPS panel whereas I think the 55 and 65" models use a VA panel.
So blacks are not as 'inky' black as on a VA panel, but for off-centre viewing angles you get better contrast and colour with IPS panels.
Black uniformity is fine on my 49" set, but any TV, regardless of make/model/panel type (apart from OLED maybe..) can have problems with this.

Before buying the 55" 4k version I bought the 55" 1080p version (which in some reviews was supposedly the pinnacle of picture quality to be found on a 1080p TV's) I returned the 1080p due to terrible black uniformity in the corners, but still apprehensively bought the 4k version because it was such a bargain. There's no issues with uniformity on the 4k version, but one thing to watch on these versions is the low 200hz refresh rate. I've watched a couple of things and noticed very slight judder on panning scenes, but not sure if it's because I'm looking for it and also it might be due to the source material. Also the Android TV GUI is a bit crappy and laggy, but if you plan to use the TV with Sky/Virgin etc and basically as a dumb panel that this doesn't matter. Don't let that put you off though, these are great TV's.
Any good for ps4 gaming? I read somewhere 1080p would be better due to upscaling issues? (I don't know a great deal about TVs).

I've just ordered a SONY KDL-50W807C 50" FULL HD 1080P SMART 3D READY TV WITH FREEVIEW HD for £520, will this be much better?

I was thinking this too.

I suppose the JL £45 5 year accidental cover could be taken out. I haven't read all the T&Cs though.

I know I bought it on lightning deal for £599. I received it but I was having issues with Internet as it was lagging alot that it was hard to use Showbox or CartoonHD, YouTube etc.... I contacted Amazon customer service and they offered refund or return. I accepted the refund and some time later Sony released updates and I also had to move my sky router to my bedroom because it stopped working in the living room and that was the end of lagging issues. 100% Very happy with the TVs.

what's the difference between that and this one ?
How does this model compare to the X8509?
I guess the android processing power would be a definite factor
