This or the LG OLED55C9PLA 55?

This or the LG OLED55C9PLA 55?

I’m not sure about the tech specs but I went for this in a 65” purely because of the acoustic screen, it really does sound excellent and gives a much cleaner look in my room. It’s not as good as my soundbar and sub but it’s not too far off and it looks so much nicer just having the black glass sheet.

Ahhhh, this has that?? That might be a game changer for me, especially if you’re saying it works well

Whichever YOU think offers the best picture and sound for the type of programs YOU watch.

Specs mean next to nothing

Sony has android
LG has webos

Can you use with a sound bar and sub?

Yes you can but honestly give it a go without, that’s what I did and wasn’t disappointed!
Had my eye on this since Black Friday. Having looked at a few in Currys I think there may just be a Boxing Day purchase.
I just need to convince the missus it was her idea and im onto a winner.

Spec means next to nothing? What a strange comment to make , especially when making probably the most expensive purchase within the home. I for one would like to make an informed decision.

The glaringly obvious difference in specs between any 2019 OLED and the current LG range is the fact the LG's are the only set that meets the new HDMI standard of 2.1, which may swing a decision. You know, future proofing and all that.

Of course, you'd have to check the specs to know this .

Can you tell me why hdmi 2.1 is so important to you?

If you're buying a TV based on picture quality alone and don't game then 2.1 isn't a big deciding factor.
Although I agree specs are important, what you don't learn from specs is how well the TV processes the image. Sony and Panasonic do that better according to most professional reviewers so playing specs top trumps isn't always the answer.

It isn't only important to me, it should be important to anyone considering investing considerable outlay for a new TV and expect to keep it for a few years.

It won't only be the next gen games consoles that will utlise the new HDMI spec, sooner rather than later every component in the video chain will implement the newer HDMI standard.

It's just food for thought. Better to make an informed decision rather than ignore specs.

Companies like you to "future proof" knowing full well they are holding back on other "essential" features to make you buy another "future proof" TV in a couple of years. Apple have it to a fine art

Buy what YOU NEED today because you have no idea what you might need next year 😁

Thousands of.people own 4k TVs and how many only use them to watch BBC and ITV ?

I see people watching programs on 55" TVs with a picture that isn't much better than donkey Kong graphics in 1985

The 2.1 HDMI spec is unlikely to change again (significantly) in the near future now the standard for it has been agreed.

The C9 is better than the AG8, the AG9 is ridiculously over priced. The Panasonic GZ950B is the only TV that isn't over priced that will trump the C9 but, lacks the new spec HDMI.

That's all I can really add to your rather speculative, rambling statement.

I feel further comment on my part is unnecessary.

Merry Christmas

C9 is rated better and wins most of the best buy awards.

Agree with you and original person who posted this. It depends on the person. Some people might want to make very logical informed decisions based on data and stats and some might be more interested in aesthetic look and feel of item. You are both correct :), whatever works for you.
