Is this 8 or 10 bit? I can't find details. I've heard really good things about Sony Bravia displays!

£80 cheaper than elsewhere good find

Can't see this being 10Bit at this price, could be wrong!?

Richer sounds will match the price. and will have a 6 year warranty

Anyone know how this compares to the KD55X8005CBU? Apart from HDR?

They may do or they may point to their terms which states the compared item must have a similar warranty.

That viewing angle quoted is quite poor though....

I was lucky enough to pick up a Sony KD-55X8509C for £799. I was hoping to try and find a similar deal for may parents... their TV just died, and I can't a good deal on another KD-55X8509C, how does this compare?

It's an LCD panel - fairly typical.

i could go and find this out somehow but i'm sure one of you folks know...! does the 'android' functionality mean it can do what a chromecast does?

I got this TV 2 weeks ago. Simply amazing.

Greaf for my OG PS4 with HDR!

Better on the Pro!

I've got the older 1080p Sony Bravia Android TV, I've been a bit ambivalent about the Android TV functionality as Sony made a bit of a mess of it but it's working much better now. My ageing Nexus Player is still a bit quicker but not quite as convenient as the functionality being built directly into the TV. Yes it can accept Chromecast material as it appears as a Chromecast, however I rarely use that as all my watching is done via Plex and it runs Plex directly on the TV very well. If it wasn't for the audio lead to my HiFi and the HDMI lead to my ancient PS3, its only connection would be to the power outlet. I don't have live TV and haven't had it since 2005, and haven't missed it! It also runs BBC iPlayer and Amazon Video directly although I rarely use those.

Yes it appears as a chromecast but you can also run apps directly on the TV, e.g Plex, BBC iPlayer, Amazon Video.

I honestly love it. HD programs on platforms like Netflix and Prime are stunning... they look close to 4k. Firmware updates in place, I never have a bother with it.

I have had a philips 4k tv and its was a joke ... Cheap for a reason

I was led to the believe the 800 is very much superior over the 700 when it comes to HDR...

My tv is 1080p 12 bit has it got Hdr????/

X8 was last years model, the XD7 is this years model. The X1 Extreme just upscales the colours as the panel only has 100nits of brightness. I have just purchased an ex-display X8005 from Currys for £379. If your after a true HDR picture, you might want to spend a few quid more.
