The Sony Bravia XE85 is a 4K HDR TV that packs powerful features into a gorgeous, slim aluminium design.

Android TV delivers the next generation of smart features, while the new 4K HDR Processor X1 ensures the very best picture quality.

The exceptional, true-to-life detail of 4K High Dynamic Range just got even better, thanks to our new 4K HDR Processor X1.

Whether you’re watching a movie or a regular broadcast, the new and improved processor creates a reality that you can really feel - it’s like watching the world through a window.

This realism is improved further by our 4K X-Reality Pro engine, which enhances the pixels on-screen for more texture and detail, while the Triluminos Display brings a much wider range of colours and hues to life, so you can enjoy exceptional picture quality and vibrant natural colours, whatever you watch.

With a slim design, narrow bezel and exquisite aluminium frame, this TV is designed to keep you focused firmly on the entertainment on-screen, while also complementing your living space beautifully.

There’s also a convenient cable management system, so you won’t need to worry about trailing cables and the silver u-shaped stand has a beautiful hairline finish adding an element of style to the design.

Enjoy a whole host of apps and exciting features now on the big screen, with Android TV.

Chromecast built in lets you cast your favourite videos, photos and apps from your smartphone straight to the TV, while the intelligent Voice Search feature makes it easy to search the Internet or start watching that film you’ve been waiting for simply by talking into your Voice Remote.

Using Youview, the seven day scroll back TV guide brings together catch up TV across BBC iPlayer, ITV Player, 4oD and Demand. User interface may differ.

You’ll also find hundreds of apps that have been specifically designed for the big screen in the Google Play Store. Your smart TV just got a whole lot smarter.

The Sony Bravia XE85 gives you all of the exceptional clarity, colour and contrast you can expect from a 4K HDR TV and more, with Android TV’s smart features, a slim profile and a gorgeous design that will look great in your home.

I have this tv and it's a great tv however the Wi-Fi on this is very poor where it disconnects regularly but when hardwired in is a great tv. Picture is amazing along with the sound

I'll go with this one any day over Samsung's... 120 Hz as well as per site above
There is a delivery charge as well
Does it give extra discounts for co-op membership?
Am I correct in thinking Sony are one of the few manufacturers that use the Android OS in their smat TVs.
Does anyone know how the coop warranty works? Is it underwritten by a third party, and do they offer like for like replacement if beyond economical repair like Richer Sounds, or use a sliding scale for compensation based on age, like John Lewis?

Thanks in advance.

That was my exact thought. Would love to get some opinions
No 10 bit no party
It is 10 but its the same as the xe8596 the only difference is the colour this ones silver. I halve the 8596 which is the black one I personally went for the sony over Samsung when I saw them its a great tv and for me I prefer Android TV to Samsungs Tizen although that will be a personal preference but being able to get apks on the tv comes in handy. The internet speeds are a bit naff with only 78mbps on a 350mb connection wired and wireless there but more than enough for 4k netflix.
I tend to find the Alexa connectivity to be ok and prefer to use my phone with the sideshow app as the remote as it has a touch pad option for mouse input. With this you also get 3 months Google Play Music, 1 free 4k Sony film (I chose spiderman, homecoming) and some bonuses for a game that I havent touched.

If you do gaming then I’d say go for the Sony, for films and normal tv viewing the Samsung panel has better brightness and contrast.
Either way get a sound bar as well, TVs sound worse and worse the thinner they get, can’t be helped

Yes and you can install kodi
My 9305 bought from the Coop last year has woke up dead for the second time this morning.

I’ve got 3 tellies. LG, older Samsung and Sony. I wanted to like the Android OS but it’s meh compared to the ease of the LG and the magic remote thingy.

I know it could be bad luck and people are more likely to write when things go wrong but it’s always felt a bit temperamental compared to the others.

Great picture when it worked. Set up the 10 bit stuff properly on Sky Q and saw no difference whatsoever but felt good inside.

There's no such thing as a 100Hz panel. They're often advertised as 50Hz/100Hz over here due to our standards, but all can do 60Hz/120Hz too.

I was thinking of buying something from them recently and all the feedback I read suggested that they don't deal with warranty claims at all, and simply tell you to contact the manufacturer. The warranty is specifically advertised as being direct with Sony on the site too. They also charge a 50% restocking fee if you open something and then want to return it. Put me off buying from them.

I had the sony and have the Samsung exact same models, sony has a great picture and thats where it ends , slow bad android, anything to do with wifi if you connecting to internet or screen mirroring then you have a problem, changing channels takes ages too, Samsung in the other hand great picture ( not as good as sony ) great os , sound is much better louder than sony but you still need sound bar for both TVs, and I always advise people to get their TV's from richer sounds or John Lewis for 6/5 years warranty, richer sounds would price match and give you 10 pounds extra discount as well.
We got ours from Curry's and the warranty is with Sony. It's amazing! The WiFi had had no issues. The picture is stunning. We had a Sony before and can't help but comment when we see other TVs that the Sony even or old one is amazing
Got this from John Lewis in the £645 price match that was posted here last year. Great TV but mine has already developed a fault where it keeps turning itself off currently awaiting repair.

The Samsung has excellent reviews, my brother has had to return a couple due to awful backlight bleed and clouding issues, might of just been unlucky.

The Sony replacement, no back light bleed, build quality looks a lot better.

I Would see if john lewis will price match.

I would avoid currys, i don't think anyone appreciates them trying to upsell you a rose gold hdmi cable for £85 !

We got the 65” XE9005 and had to get the first one replaced so will concur with never having had any Wi-Fi issues with either of them but the OS is so slow it ain't even worth bothering with. Better using the Xbone or PS4 when accessing any of the usual content providers.

Got ours from JL about this time last year, it got infested with thunder flies late summer, took till a week before Christmas to finally get a replacement sorted.

JL said "not us guv" and put me on to Sony immediately who tried playing the 'act of god' card which eventually resulted in Martin Dawes being appointed as a supposed independent technical investigator. Their man came round and straight away agreed there was a fault in the bezel where all the bugs got in but then they still tried saying Sony were refusing liability for it being a manufacturing fault!

This went on for months and it wasn't till Which and some trading standards body got involved and the not fit for purpose legislation got pushed to the max with their help till they relented, put their hands up and dealt with it accordingly.

I acknowledge this could and probably would have been the same with any other manufacturer but my experience was with Sony. To say it's left a bitter taste in the gob would be one proper massive understatement so I'm not going to be buying anything else of theirs anytime soon, Sony after sales warranty service is a shambles.

Maybe in the past as I was wary too. I've had no issues with android and Kodi runs well.
Only thing I would say is if you've got the extra couple of hundred I'd go for the 9 series. There is a step up in brightness and sharpness. My friend has the 49" 9 series and I'm gutted it looks alot better than this one (and this is a great TV!)

Fortunately it's a lot easier to argue a hardware fault than it is a fly infestation.

Yes it was Samsung mu7000, it looks like a colour banding problem on your tv.

The light bleed was from the corners, it looked awful watching a film as the black bars would flicker in the corners .

But generally it's a panel lottery.

Yes; all LCD edge lit TV's will to a greater or lesser extent suffer from it sadly. TBH in most viewing circs you wont notice it. Just enjoy it, you will drive yourself crazy looking for faults

Lol okay I hear ya but that's the thing though, because they got in due to the bezel not being properly secured around the screen it was very much 'hardware' issue.

Hi thanks for the response would you say it's a fault? Richer sounds said they will replace but it's the hassle. Was thinking about paying the extra for the Sony 9305e
Does it have ''HDMI 2.1'', ....i'll make it simple, NO.
