Let’s start the debate, this or OLED?
Anyone notice the 20% cashback on Topcashback at Currys for Sony TVs? Would potentially make it cheaper than this deal though at £879.20 - of course cashback is never guaranteed especially when you're dealing with currys.

I don't know about his issues, but I returned my LG OLED because of LG's decision to ruin the HDR game mode via a firmware update. You can read about the issue here:

avsforum.com/for…tml

It won't be "fixed" because LG consider it a feature. If you don't play games, then it doesn't affect you in any way. There's also the standard OLED concerns of burn-in, uneven wear and visible banding in near-black scenes, but those are inescapable quirks of the technology. In most respects it's a plain better TV than this one - better black levels/contrast, better input lag, better OS, better HDR format support... just better picture quality in general. And I've owned both.

Also, for the record, this ONLY affects LG 2016 and 2017 OLEDs. Any other OLED from any other manufacturer is just fine and superior to both options.

Great TV. The new model (XF9005) will be out pretty soon, so there might be some better deals on this.

Oh boy this is the tv I was waiting to go down under 1000, I've been toying with this the samsun q7, and the LG oled b7 since November lol any thoughts. My only bug bear is this ain't getting the Dolby vision update as it doesn't have the extreme processor.

Me too it's likely to be the screen burn issue that's the big thing about the LG oled but many say they have no problems others do there is a lot of forum articles about this topic on A/V forums I believe, however with this tv the xe9005 many people moan about the Android TV being slow so you can't win lol.
I've spoke to a lot of people about this as well and some said there's nothing better than the OLED and others would take this over the cheaper OLED models

I'm in the same position. This is tempting but I I'm gonna hold out a bit longer for the LG oled. Probably.

The one thing I don't understand about image burn in is if you watch normal tv like say Ch5 where it has it's logo always in left hand corner will that have image burn or is there some technology within the tv that stops that? And if the tv is paused are we talking it has to be paused for a good few hours to have a image burn or something like half hr.

Was going to get this, in the end I went for the 55XE9305. Was going OLED however ANY possibility of screen burn in my opinion is unacceptable, so LCD it was.

Most channels have the decency to make their logo very faint these days, so it should have notable impact unless you only ever watch that channel. Plus most of them make it go away during breaks, so it's not a constant anyway. On the other hand, if you were to watch only, say, one 24 hour news channel with bright banners all over the screen all day every day, that would become a problem over time and you'd likely get some burn-in (technically burn-out with an OLED, since it's the result of uneven wear on the subpixels). The same goes for gaming and games with bright HUDs that are on-screen for long periods.

Generally you don't need to worry about it though. Any normal usage of the TV is going to be just fine, so long as you vary your content like most do. As for pausing specifically, modern OLEDs all very quickly switch to dynamic screensavers when left unattended, so it's not really an issue.

Totally agree with you, I had the LG C7 when LG did that stupid firmware the game mode looked rubbish especially playing HDR. I took it back and bought the Samsung q7f which is awesome for gaming but not the best for picture quality when it comes to actually watching stuff which is not 4k.

I'm toying with the idea of this 9005 or 9305.
forgive me if im wrong but are LG not the only manufacturer that produce OLED panels?? i thought they were and samsung produced QLED to rival it?

I read that LG supply the panels as i think they do with alot of the led ones too! With regards to the OLED ones though does that not mean thag screen burn would occur across the range regardless of brand or processor ect?
OLED = BURN IN screen. Youtube has got loads of proof. I would definitely stay away from them for now!
What's HDR premium?
Bought this when it was 1074 a couple months ago. Really pleased with quality. Heat added.

Can't get your advice sorry, you were living in middle age and you have jumped the present, it is like a traveling in time
heads up on topcashback from co-op electrical - bought the 49 inch version of this tv in late november expecting to get about £40 tcb - which it originally tracked at however it reverted to a 1% cashback eventually which only turned out to be like £9 in the end

solid tv though - took a good while to get the picture settings right for different inputs, but it seems to be sorted now - i wasn't a fan of the rtings or avforums picture settings but they may work for you

i went with coach csan 's video on youtube eventually - again avoid quantum apotheosis - his settings are just stupid - incidentally i used the warm colour palette for gaming (not the calibrated expert 1 - i use expert 1 for most other inputs)

No not travelling in time. Just because something is new doesn't mean it's better. I still have my plasma, it's a 2011 Pioneer kuro. Newer TVs couldn't match it for a long time especially black levels. Do u own a 8k TV?

Good spot OP. I managed to get this for a similar price packaged with a free soundbar towards end of last year from these. I probably wouldn't have considered a soundbar otherwise but definitely needed to get the best out of this. On the 5% off members rewards it tends to only apply to one brand at any time, Samsung recently and now Hisense so I don't think that 5% is available on this.
You can also get Richer Sounds to match this price with the voucher as Co-op are offering a 5 year warranty

Thanks for spotting the lack of 5% members rewards available on this TV, I’ve edited the post. I’ve been waiting to get this for under £1,000, so I hope the TopCashback works.
How zippy is the Android OS on these?
Never seen it in action but heard a few stories, some with no problems, others who hate it.

Not the fastest and not the smoothest either but my Sony tv from 2015 has gotten better with updates. To be honest, I’d rather have the lag I have now for the openness of android TV. Even though I have Netflix and Kodi on there, it’s rare I actually use the android tv system for anything else. I’m a pretty critical person when it comes to phones where the UI is used all the time. It’s why I refuse to buy Samsung phones. But it doesn’t matter on a tv depending on your usage arguably. The chrome cast built into the tv really is useful and for me I wouldn’t buy a tv without these features.

I can’t speak for others though.

From all the research I've done between the xe900 and xe930 the only differences are the fact that the xe930 gets brighter, is edge lit and supports dolby vision. I've been in the same position as you for the last couple of weeks but I said to hell with it and brought the xe900 last night. Hope that helps
Where did the voucher code come from? If it's public, JL will price match
