Awesome TV.

Where does it say free sound bar and cable??

Unfortunately, this is another example of a tv where the deals were better before Black Friday. A couple of weeks ago it was coming in at c.£1050 with the Sony HTCT250 soundbar included.

It’s not a soundbar; it’s a wireless speaker. The Sony soundbar promotion was ended by Sony last Weds. click on bundles to see the free wireless speaker option though.

If you want a six year guarantee, you should be able to get Richer Sounds to pricebeat Coop’s current cheapest price of £1139 on this tv by a tenner, so you should be able to get the TV from Richer with six years guarantee for £1129.

Anybody got one of these? If you were going to criticise it, what are its worst points?

Richer sounds Do Not price match with Co op as according to them they don't provide a similar warranty. Iv tried it twice.

only place i have seen bundling items in at this price is here mine ready to ship and sadly i missed the soundbar deal but but at the present time this is the best deal i can find its cheaper than coop but with freebies included i will give the speaker to one of the kids i thought it was worth posting as its a cheaper option

Android tv is slower, more complicated and more buggy than other systems. It needs manual cache clearing to improve stability. Picture is universally praised though. Have a look at review on rtings.com

Not really, I’m afraid. I ordered something else in the end. I was shown that you can favourite certain apps to keep them easily reachable and not get them lost in all the other apps that routinely appear on the screen though, so that should come in handy.

A previous comment of mine on this tv:
One thing I will say about this tv (in the interests of being unbiased) is that the android operating system isnt very good at all. It’s much better after doing a firmware update but still not great. I use an external sat tuner for mine. There is a distinct lack of EPG for the satellite tuners (I only use freesat). Not sure about freeview...can’t get it...but therein if you can’t get freeview there’s an issue setting up the non bbc streaming services. Again, I use an external box.
So be warned....I think this is why this tv is so cheap at the moment. But if, like me, you just want a good panel with zoned back lighting and good motion handling....and you’ll sort out your own content externally then it’s worth it (to me at least).
Pretty glaring issues though it has to be said

Thanks for this. At this price i couldnt live with those kind of issues. I think i would actually prefer a less perfect panel but better OS. Sluggish menus drive me mad.

OK no problem...sounds like android TV isn't for you...I don't think it will exist for much longer myself...android needs too much processing power for an embedded application like a tv in my opinion. A good one would probably push the price to high.
Had a go at a game on the TV...Asphalt Airborne...performed like a very cheap tablet .... nowhere near as good as my cheap lenovo tablet (just cheap at £100-£150) or my aging iPhone 6s. The frame rate was appalling. Just shows what little processing power they put into these things...custom operating system is best....There's just too much overhead with Android.

The android part of the TV is pretty poor. Like Sleepy I use an external provider for TV so don't use the android part

Ordered this morning thank you.
Also worth noting.
I have an x80c. The android a OS is actually good.

Android TV as a piece of software won't die out as it powers a lot of streaming boxes like the nvidia shield TV. Works fine on a device with a proper processor.

MY main two gripes are that there's no freesat EPG (apparently Panasonic are the only ones that have this though) and the Youview system. It requires you to tune the Freeview channels before it will give you access to itvplayer, 4od etc because Youview integrates them into the Freeview system now. But I can't get freeview...so it can never complete the setup and give me these on demand services. They are not available to download individually from the play store either. So no go on these at all for me. Good job I've got a Humax box otherwise it would have been returned.
Lack of research perhaps...but I pulled the trigger fast enough to get the original co-op deal with the sound bar and sub and the picture is astounding so still a happy camper overall

Ye I’m getting this for my Xbox X. As mentioned I have 2015 Bravia but HDR only supported through usb which is stupid.
Android sometimes crashes but 99.9% of the time it’s fine.
I use kodi through it.
Done allot of research on this tv. It’s closest performance u can get to OLED without the OLED price tag.
Looking forward to it.

This has just massively put me off this set! I only have a Virgin line into my house and not a standard aerial so I could not use many of the smart apps! Hmmm

That's my experience....Google around case there's a fix I don't know about...I'm no expert...let me know if you find something though eh? I use a Humax sat box so isn't a big issue for me as that gets freesat and streaming services.

What about YouTube?

WI'll have a go for you tonight...just got broadband back after virgin media put a spade through my BT line

mobily7 h, 8 m ago

What about YouTube?

Almost forgot...youtube takes a similar amount of time to netflix to run up...10 seconds or so. Works fine with the following caveats:
1) The in-screen "keyboard" for youtube is different to the normal keyboard you get and isn't as good (e.g. You have to switch between letters and numbers). I've got a backlit bluetooth keyboard ftom eBay for £10 ish...or you could use the keyboard on your phone using the remote control app...does mouse operations too.
2) 4k looked stunning on YouTube but did stutter in a couple of places...however my broadband is currently speed testing at 5 to 10Mbps and is bouncing all over the place which could explain that. I normally get 50 to 70Mbps off peak so may be the soggy chop block dangling in the hole in the road until BT get around to coming and fixing it.
Hope this helps a bit

THe reviews say that the sound for this tv is pretty good compared to most...I think it is due to it not bring wafer thin to accommodate the local dimming backlight (ie not edge lit)...this gives more space for decent speakers. I can't argue with that...it does seem pretty good. The only sound bar I have ever owned is the one that came as a freebie with the TV...the Sony CT290. This certainly improves the bass a lot due to the wireless sub that comes with it. I must say though that the dialogue is much clearer from the TV itself though...I don't think the bar itself is very good. Wacky controls too. It integrates well with the TV, turning on and off with the TV and volume control is via the TV remote. I can't recommend it though as in the integrated configuration (connected via hdmi so that the TV can recognise and talk to it for controls) there is a lip sync issue between the screen and the sound output...it's really annoying and there's no lip sync offset control available) its much better via TOSLink but then you lose the integration. I think I'm going to move mine on. I was hoping to ditch my old surround system (Sony DAV S800) but it is nowhere near the sound quality in any respect. My brother in law has a bose soundbase...which is discontinued but but still available and is awesome if you like your bass. Read that the sonos soundbar is even better but more money...around £400-£500 I think.
it depends what you want to spend. My CT290 can be had for about £210 new but is certainly not worth it. Dislogue is good with it off and bass is good with it on. I wish I could have the TV speakers working with the sub only.
My advice is don't buy on specifications...go and listen to some...and check the lop sync if it's using the hdmi to get its audio (actually I did read that the firmware update causes the issue and a factory reset of the TV cures it...not sure it's worth the bother though...will play some more).
My lounge is rectangular and we sit at one end so the reflecting surround sound soundbars aren't going to work for me...they might for you if you have the layout and the cash. I think I will stick with traditional surround sound myself. I spent a lot of money on it back in the day and I think I will need to spend an awful lot to better it.
