Bargain, great TV for the cheapest price I've seen :-)

Sony Bravia KD-55XG9505

X1 Ultimate for powerful picture processing
At the heart of this 55 inch Sony TV lies their flagship processor – X1 Ultimate. This processor intelligently enhances the brightness of hundreds of different picture elements, giving incredibly realistic and detailed images. X1 Ultimate is also the power behind upscaling FHD images to UHD 4K – bringing new life to your Blu-ray collection and non-4K TV shows.

Stunning contrast and detail from Full array LED backlighting with X-Tended Dynamic Range Pro
The Sony Bravia KD-55XG9505 uses a full-array LED backlight with ultra-dense structure for the most effective LED screen yet. This ultimate level of brightness control boosts contrast levels, giving deeper blacks, dazzling whites and truer colour between. The TRILUMINOS display with X-Tended Dynamic Range Pro offers true-to-life colour for a more natural and believable colour balance.

The smoothest images with X-Motion Clarity
Sony’s X-Motion Clarity makes use of the LED panel’s full array dimming technology to deliver smoother and brighter images. By controlling the backlighting with greater precision this Sony 55” TV offers enhanced realism, especially with fast-moving sports and action movies.

HDR support, including Dolby Vision
HDR maximises picture quality, bringing detail to the darkest areas of the picture as well as making the overall image look more life-like than ever. As well as HDR10 and HLG formats, this Sony is also compatible with Dolby Vision. Dolby Vision optimises the HDR format to give quite simply the sharpest, most accurate images possible. Very much an industry standard, Dolby Vision continually adjusts the picture for the most remarkable realism.

Acoustic Multi-Audio for enhanced sound
Acoustic Multi-Audio uses an array of speakers around the body of the TV to provide sound that’s as closely related to the picture as possible. As well as the usual down-firing speakers, sound positioning tweeters tie-in the sound for perfect voice sync.

Android TV at its best yet
Bringing together photos, music, movies, Internet and apps, the Sony Android system makes accessing a huge range of entertainment easy. Sony’s latest Android TVs are up to 60% faster at launching apps than before. This means that as you switch between YouTube, Netflix and the Home Menu you get a more responsive feel and can enjoy your content sooner.

Hands free Google Assistant for effortless interaction
Built-in Google Assistant and advanced voice control makes finding content easier than ever. You can find new entertainment, check schedules and control your smart home simply by talking to the screen. For universal control, the system also works with Alexa (once connected to a suitable device) and Apple AirPlay/HomeKit via AirPlay.

Make TV easy, with YouView
YouView is a popular innovation that brings together live and on demand TV in an effortless, intuitive way. The simple menu page lets you easily find live or catch-up programmes, without having to open separate apps.

Premium quality – right down to the remote control
With its softened bezel and striking, aluminium stand, the Sony KD-55XG9505 makes a strong statement of style in your room, without overpowering it. The supplied table stand offers stylish support, or you can mount it on the wall. Every detail is perfectly designed – right down to the premium, metal-faced remote control.

Enjoy all the benefits of a flagship TV, with the LED range-topping Sony Bravia KD-55XG9505.

Dont know what to do. Just got PS4 pro , ps5 out next year with no infos about support of technology ecc, my Sony full HD is getting black lines on top right of the screen , hard to notice them as long you are not very close to that side. This is very tempting but I'm not sure.

I have PS4 pro too. Haven't used it much this year until I got this new TV. Now it's much more fun to play some old games with better graphics

I also have a Sony full HD, 12 years old but still a nice screen! It works fine and is upstairs now. But you will be glad if you buy this Sony 4K if it's your budget. If you want to spend more then maybe get an LG OLED but I think this is just as good most of the time if maybe not all of the time
I have this tv, it’s great, but I have a problem with the sound going to a receiver. It randomly cuts out out when using Netflix and amazon. Seems like a common issue that will hopefully get fixed with a fw update. Android 9 Pie is due any day now, so waiting for that.
I have this TV and the upscaling is the best in the market (X1 ultimate processor).
Got it for 1000£ a month ago and I'm.not regretting it.

The think is that ps5 will be out in a year and with the same money I could be covered for next gen .

Yes I got it from Richer sounds for £979 but then they kindly price beat the TPS deal for me and refunded £40+ and sent a free wall mount (great company to buy from ) But I would have still been very happy just to pay around £1000. Amazing TV, I even like the Android

I haven't found issues yet but I'm using the optical out to a cheap DAC to a hifi so maybe it only happens with surround?
crabeyed26/12/2019 11:19

It's the Ultimate for sure

You are correct, appologies. I though this was only in the OLED top end units.
I really want this set. I have a Q9FN. The picture is brilliant and bright but I have had nothing but issues with it.

The only thing putting me off is the blooming on this set. Otherwise I would have returned the Samsung and got this in a heartbeat.

Sony has more natural colour. Samsung colours are over saturated and neon. Sony has better motion handling and upscaling. But blooming let's the Sony down on otherwise a brilliant panel.

Look at reviews online.

Lol aw mate I know that feeling. I was there last year before I bought the Q9FN and after a year...I regret buying this set and wish I went with the Sony.

I've done a lot of research on tellies and I can say there is no perfect, go-to TV unfortunately. If you REALLY want one right now I would go for this Sony. It's at a good price and probably the most accurate picture you will get (other than OLED) with the best upscaling and motion handling out there.

If you're a gamer I would 100% stay away from OLEDs (as I have done) as screen burn most definitely IS an issue no matter what you read online.

Disclaimer: All TVs come with their own issues and it just depends on your tolerance towards them.

If you're a patient man then wait for CES 2020 and see what the companies have to offer for the next line of TVs. PS5 is still just less than a year away so you still have time.

Good luck buddy.

Maybe just need to wait official info of what ps5 will support , as soon as I know I can start make decision. Hopefully will be before next Xmas

Shame, these £899 deals seem to only last a day or two, RGB Direct put their prices back up too by the look of it. Probably the same company

Anyway you'll have another chance and cheaper if you wait long enough, by which time there'll be something better on the market

Nice one, now that's a serious bargain! I very much doubt you'll regret it Well, if you do you can always send it back Seriously though, I'm glad I didn't go the OLED route. Stress free regarding burn in with channel logos and game HUDS , better colours, better motion and upscaling and the black are still pretty impressing especially compared to most other LCDs. The interface takes a bit of getting used to and I've given up on the Freeview HDD live recording (it's crap!) and gone to the darkside i.e. Youview (but without channel record, not possible). No pausing live tv either way and Youview is definitely a better interface and required for itv and ch4 catch-up apps to work for some reason. Enjoy!
