Take your viewing to the next level with the superb 4K HDR picture of the XG81 from Sony. It unites crisp detail, beautiful colour and smooth motion for exceptional viewing. The TRILUMINOS display delivers authentic, natural-looking colours, while Clear Audio + ensures immersive audio. The Android platform opens up a wealth of online content, you can control it by voice with the Google Assistant, and its minimalist design is supremely elegant.

HDR with HDR10+
HDR deepens your view and shows shades previously unseen in home entertainment. Expanding light, dark and every colour in between to extraordinary new levels, this model’s picture gets closer to real life. This TV supports multiple HDR formats including HDR10+.

4K Ultra High Definition
This 65” screen has four times the number of pixels than 1080p HD TVs, delivering stunning realism, natural motion and incredible detail.

Features:

4K X-Reality Pro: upscales non-4K content to reveal extra detail. It analyses every pixel and improves contrast, colour and sharpness for increased clarity.

TRILUMINOS Display: expands the colour range beyond conventional LED displays for a richer, more lustrous image.

Clear Audio + : fine tunes the audio for a more immersive experience of rich sound and clear dialogue, no matter what you’re watching.

Motionflow XR 400: every image on the screen refreshes at a higher rate than normal for noticeably smoother motion. Perfect for fast action movies and sports.

Super-Smart Android Platform
Developed by Google, you’ll be able to enjoy seamless entertainment, intelligent search and the latest apps from the likes of Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Youtube and Google Play.* This TV features a special Netflix Calibrated Mode for studio quality content, and it’s also compatible with Alexa devices, Apple Airplay, and Apple HomeKit.

Android TV with Google Assistant
With the Google Assistant built-in, you can use your voice to find your favourite programmes, apps, videos or music, as well as search for information and more. You can also control connected smart devices in your home (smart device control depends on compatibility). Chromecast built-in casts your videos, photos and apps to the TV straight from your smartphone or tablet (Android or iOS) via Wi-Fi. There are also hundreds of apps and games available for you to explore in the Google Play store.

Youview Catch-Up
In addition to a wealth of online entertainment, this set comes with built-in YouView. The seven day scroll back TV guide brings together catch up TV from across BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, All 4 and My5**. You can also enjoy over 70 live TV channels and radio stations for free, such as BBC 1 & 2, ITV, Channel 4, E4, Channel 5, 5 USA, ITV 2 and Dave.

Minimalist Design
The design of the XG81 keeps you focused on the picture. Cable management features keep connecting wires hidden from view in the Dark Silver stand, and a narrow black bezel maximises the viewing area.

Not too bad, but XF9005 would be a better buy. At least its not a crappy LG OLED tho.

XG81 has no local dimming. XF9005 does.

Its £1349, but its a massive improvement.

You can see a comparison here to XG80 which I guess would be similar, doesnt seem to be much info on XG81:

rtings.com/tv/…0.1

If this deal is an IPS panel and edge lit then I'd avoid it.

Or to compare XF9005 to higher end models of this year:

rtings.com/tv/…0.1

X900F USA = XF9005 in the UK

X950G USA = XG9505 in the UK and its £1899...
