in my basic opinion this seems to be good... anyone advise me?

price isnt too bad i suppose but for an extra £150 or so you can get 46" Samsung which form looking at the both of them side by side in dixons looks better

LE46M86BD £905 delivered from pixmania which includes 5% quidco and £25 off voucher which are floating around this site

costco also have slightly less model at £705

I purchased the Sony V3000 + PS3 deal for £899 from John Lewis at Christmas and the TV is awesome.

A review can be found here:- hdtvtest.co.uk/Son…000

Side by side.......in my opinion, the Sony's build quality is far superior to the Samsung's. To me, the M86 looks cheap in comparison. The plastic looks tacky compared to the V3000 and the wabbly mount of the M86 leaves much to be desired. As far as the outward styling goes, the sony wins - there's no question. Think Ford Focus (M86) vs Lexus (V3000) !

The Samsungs suffer with reliability issues and the later built panels are very hit and miss. Most forum threads show a lot of faults and unhappy owners. The threads also show that the V3000 owners are generally much more happy. e.g. No need for firmware updates, no problems with banding, buzzing etc.

Just make sure that you calibrate the V3000 and use some reputable picture settings when its delivered. The results are amazing.

can anyone shed any light on the Sony D, V and W range? please advise if you can.

]Sound and Vision £700, managed to get a John Lewis pricematch from there when it was £745 so i'm now trying to get a PM for the lower price.

The general consensus over at ]AVforums is that this is one of if not the best 40" 1080p LCD for under £1000.
