Seems like its got a decent review. In the market for a new TV but will wait till I hear someone elses opinion on this before I buy. Heat added.

Beware of delivery prices - for my IP postcode it was going to cost £35

on almost any tv forum they'll tell you that this is one of the best all round tv's on the market . We're looking to get a new one before xmas and it was between this model and the newer "W" series . £600 is about the best i could find price wise on this model a week ago so so even at £35 p+p you'd be making a small saving .

We got this model last week and once you have all the settings correct for a given source it is absolutely fantastic! At this price it's a steal. Numerous reviews rate it very highly - including a What Hi-Fi best buy: ]http//wh…00/

This TV is highly flexible with a good range of settings and connections, can't reccomend it enough.

Heat added.

very good tv, bought mine a little while ago, good price as well, shame about the delivery, the website does a interest free deal if any one is interested.
hot:thumbsup:

could this not be price matched at john lewis?

I rang John Lewis in Liverpool about this and they need a physical store and stock to price match (thats what they told me.)

I want 2 of them and Digital Direct want 2 x £35 to deliver them together... I live nearby too so I offered to collect - they said that they had to be delivered!

Where did you get it for £599 with 5 years warranty?

Just ordered the W version of this for ~£660 (Quidco discount + discount voucher included). The W was rated Stuff.tv's number 1 LCD TV!

Edit: (~£660 including delivery too)

Does this price include the 2.5% VAT reduction?

Unfortunately retailers aren't under any obligation to pass on the 2.5% VAT reduction on to the customers.

So can anyone tell me the difference between the V series and the W series? not much difference in the price and the only thing I can see is a different looking bar under the screen.

The W series has a USB port so you can use it as a digital photo frame, also the W is 80,000:1 contrast ratio as opposed to 50,000:1 on the V series. I got the V series and its a cracking TV.

i have this tv and wonder what the best set up is for picture quality any advice with regards to all the settings?running it through monster cables and im still not super impressed with the picture quality! also i have a samsung home cinema any advice on the best set up it has an optical out and at the moment its running straight through the tv but would the quality be better if run individually through an item like my ps3/sky box? appreciate any help

Wow

looks like I got a good Deal then;-)

This telly rocks!! Got it last week and have to say it has the best picture I've seen on an LCD. It has gone up in price over the last few weeks so I definately vote this hot!!

I think you will find both the V and W at least for the 4000 series are both 33,000:1 with the newer 40W4500 being 50,000:1 (see following link under technical specs > Picture)

For those who are interested and can be bothered trawling through it there is a rather good (if lengthy and highly subjective) thread discussing this telly and different settings on AVForums. The link is: ]http//ww…tml

ABX.. what code did u use to get that tv for £660 delivered ?! thanks

For anyone that's interested, Marks and Spencer are doing this TV for £699 with a BDP-S350 blu-ray player thrown in, 5 year warranty on the TV, 2 on the blu-ray, and free delivery. Had mine delevered yesterday :-)

They were doing this deal and it was supposed to run until tomorrow (04/12) but a few days after it was put on it was pulled. We missed out as we were going for this but were waiting on a cheque clearing, then went to get it and it was no longer available on this deal. Congrats to you for getting it. I just checked and it's still not on this deal anymore.

Just to back up this thread I bought mine from Empire Direct for £775 in August with extended warranty and free bluray player and 4 bluray films thrown in. The player and the discs went on the fleabay and netted me £200.

Enough about my driving down of the price, but the TV is fantastic, I have it hooked up to a regular sky digital box and the picture quality is really good for SD, I watch a lot of football and while obviously not HD, it dosn't look like poorly upscaled SD either.

I also have it hooked up to my PS3, GT5 prologue look sumptuous and Bluray discs look stunning, also upscaled DVDs look ace too.

I'd highly recommend this set, especially at this price point.

You could buy KDL40W4000 from Richer sounds for £550, don't know if they still have any left.

richersounds.com/sho…00U

You sure it wasn't the V model?
I've got the 40" V one, brilliant TV, even with normal SD broadcasts - HD DVD looks amazing.

£550? its on their site for £679.95

When did they sell at that price?

Gone up by £50.

Bad deal now.

Sorry to all asking where I got it from. I got my Sony-KDL-40W4000 from Pixmania for £693 delivered after using a discount code I found on this site. Then got approx £30 off via Quidco. It has now gone up to £810!! I got mine today, it is impressive, maybe a bit too big for my room though lol.

Here is the text from the receipt. Not too bothered who doesn't believe it lol.
